She was avoiding her.
Kim fucking Minji was avoiding her and been doing it for three days straight.
Since that night again at the lake, she hadn't run into her for three whole days. And when she tried, for some reason she couldn't understand, Minji was never more than one minute in the same place as her. And it was torturing her.
Was it really that serious that she suggested to leave? It was true that she didn't want to stop it, but everything changed so drastically and she just got scared.
Was it wrong on her part? It probably was after seeing Minji's expression after she did it, and seeing the aftermath of it in the following days.
But come on, as if she were the only one who did something like that. Minji did it first, leaving her there at the lake and then ignoring her, which was way more fucked up than what she did. She couldn't blame her for giving her the same.
However, watching from afar without knowing how to approach her was becoming really difficult.
Haerin knew for sure that their relationship had changed, evolved into something she was too afraid to acknowledge. But she knew it was good, she knew it was worth it.
So fighting the urge to kiss her again like they did the past few days was a real torture. She didn't want to go back to their old days, she wouldn't be able to cope with that. She couldn't even cope with anything now! She had too much in her mind, she tried to ignore everything that passed through it, to ignore what it was coming.
Because she wouldn't be able to handle it.
Thinking about Minji was a really good way to distract her, but it added stress to her already mess situation.
So how could she solve that?
Haerin sighed, running her fingers through her hair as she sat on the stairs in the Aphrodite cabin entrance . The sweet scent of perfume that usually filled the air did nothing to calm her frayed nerves. Her siblings moved around her, chatting about the latest camp gossip and grooming in front of mirrors, but Haerin barely registered their presence.
Her mind was consumed with thoughts of Minji. The way her dark eyes flashed with anger and something else when they argued. The softness of her lips during that stolen moment by the lake. The annoying smile she wore when she knew she'd gotten under Haerin's skin.
"Haerin!" Danielle's voice broke through her reverie. "Have you been listening to me?"
Haerin blinked, coming back to reality and meeting her friend's concerned gaze. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
Danielle rolled her eyes. "I was asking if you wanted to go with my siblings to the forest later, but I see you're not interested." She leaned closer. "Does it have something to do with Kim?"
"No!" Haerin answered too quickly.
"Haerin!" Danielle smacked her forehead. "Stop pretending! You've been looking around like the girl from The Exorcist for three days."
"That's not true," Haerin protested, though she knew Danielle was right.
"Whatever you say." Danielle took a bite of her apple. "Spill it out. What happened?"
She hesitated, unsure if she should tell her, although... It was a routine by now, wasn't it? They kissed, Haerin got lost in her own world, and Danielle interrogated her again.
"Nothing new happened... Really, this time I don't understand," she lied.
Of course, she understood. She felt the same way. But why was it so hard to accept that Minji might be feeling the same way?
