Mihir's POV
Gautami’s touch was a balm to my aching head, her concern was a warmth I hadn’t realized, I craved. As she pressed her fingers into my scalp, the tension melted away, replaced by a longing I was determined to ignore.
“Thank you,” I whispered, closing my eyes. Her touch was gentle, her care undeniable. For now, I allowed myself to enjoy the moment, pushing aside the confusing feelings, the jealousy, and the undeniable attraction.
After some time, I was feeling much better, so I asked her to stop pressing my head.
Every now and then, she would glance at me with a worried expression, but I did my best to reassure her. The food was really good, I finished eating it and
gave my plate back to her.
But just then Dr Rajvanshi walked in to spoil my blissful moments, looking concerned and he went to Dad immediately. " Are you alright, Mr Shah? What happened? "
" Nothing, my son was not feeling better. " Dad replied.
" Your son?? Dr Shah, what happened to you?" He asked I did not bother to reply, and Tami told him everything.
" Well, Tami... " He started saying but I glared at him, he cleared his throat and started again. " Ms Jindal, Dr Shah seems to be fine... And as it is he is a doctor and takes care of himself, please resume your work. "
Idiot!! I can take care of myself but can't you feed yourself decently at some good restaurant??
Bloody, miser prince.
" Tami, he is right, I am fine now, go back to your work. And Dr. Rajvanshi, by the way, she is Mrs Shah, not Ms Jindal. So please mind that and address her accordingly. " I said.
" But, you are... " Tami was saying with concern but I could not tolerate that man standing there.
" I am fine, go to your work. " I said, she nodded and told him that she would join him in five minutes. He nodded and went away.
" Do you want anything else? More food, or tea/coffee, or medicine? " She was full of concern.
" No, go back to your work," I said.
" I will be back as soon as I am free." She said and went away. I tried not to smile but I liked the way she was concerned about me.
" She is so sweet, isn't she? Just see, how concerned she was for you. Do you think it was fake?? " Dad asked looking at me, he was smirking as he must have seen me smiling when she looked concerned. I ignored his question.
" She is a very genuine girl, nothing about her is fake. She is a real and rare diamond, Mihir. Grab her before someone else takes it away right from under your nose. I will not forgive you if it happens, mend your relationship with her, or you will lose not just her but me as well. " He said.
" Dad, I am trying... Please don't pressure me. " I said and he nodded.
" I hope, you don't waste too much time in trying. Anyway, since your mom is coming tomorrow, I will be discharged tomorrow. " He said and I nodded.
After about an hour, she walked in again with hot tea for the three of us. And some snacks.
" Tami, he is not supposed to eat all this, why did you get them? He would crave for them. " I asked politely.
" Relax! Mom prepared and sent them for you when I told her that you are not feeling well, she has also packed some healthy snacks for Dad. " She said and served them.
She was talking to Dad, making him eat and laugh and I could not help smiling at her silly jokes.
We were enjoying it when the devil arrived.
I would kill that man one day.
" Hey, I was feeling a bit hungry... Can I get something to eat? "
Bhukkad sala!!
" You are in the wrong place, the cafeteria is on the third floor. " I said.
" Thanks, Dr Shah, but I am aware of the layout of the hospital by now. I prefer food prepared by her over anything in the world, even a porridge made by her is more satisfying than a five-course meal at any restaurant. " He said.
Stop it!!!
" Can I have more of it? " I asked Tami for more though I was full already, but I didn't want him to have it, she nodded but was confused, about what to do, "Oh, I really liked it and wanted to have more. " I said.
" Tami, serve something for the young man. " Dad said and she gave the snacks to me with a cute smile.
" Sorry, Dr Rajvanshi, but Mihir was very hungry, didn't even have breakfast and lunch. " She said and served porridge to him. He looked shocked.
" What?? You just said that you liked even the porridge made by me. Anyway, these snacks are made by mom, and porridge is left over from the lunch. Mihir doesn't like porridge. " She said sweetly.
Was she really so innocent or was she teasing him?
" Oh, in that case, I will have it. But, you have to promise to make my favorite dishes tomorrow. Get a lot of them. " He said.
Irritating man.
" Okay, I will do it! " She said.
" That's like my girl!! Love you!! " He said and winked at her.
My girl??? Love you???
That was getting a bit too much. I couldn’t take it anymore. “ Dr Rajvanshi, can I talk to you outside for a minute?”
He raised an eyebrow but followed me out into the hallway. “What’s up, Dr Mihir Shah?”
“Listen, I appreciate your friendship with Tami, but could you maybe tone down the flirting a bit?” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
His expression softened. “Mihir, I’m sorry if I overstepped. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. ”
“It’s not that,” I said, running a hand through my hair. “It’s just… I don’t know. It’s complicated.”
He nodded. “I get it, but I was just stating the fact. Well, but since you are happily married to each other, I’ll back off. But for the record, I really love her and we make a great team. I swear, if you were not happily married, I would have proposed to her. She is everything I want in my life partner. ”
“Thanks,” I said, feeling a little relieved.
We went back inside, and I could see the curiosity in Tami’s eyes. I gave her a faint smile and sat down next to Dad, while, Parshav finished his lunch and made excuses to leave. Dad was taking a nap by now.
