Mihir's POV
I went out to look for her and found her helping the chef in cooking, having tears in her eyes as she chopped onions. It twisted something inside me to see her like this, working so hard, obviously upset. She was too kind, too good to be doing this after how I have been treating her.
"Tami, why are you doing this? Stop it, the chef will handle it," I said, trying to mask my concern. The chef looked relieved when I stepped in, probably fearing my temper.
Tami’s response was calm but determined. She defended him immediately and said that she had to take care of the three pregnant women.
I could see the stubbornness in her eyes. Her dedication was admirable, but it also made me feel guilty. Here she was, taking care of everyone, while I was drowning in my bitterness and behaving rudely. Her eyes were red from the onions, or maybe from crying, and I couldn't stand to see her like that.
I tried to convince her to come with me but she told me to have lemonade and get ready.
I left, feeling more conflicted than ever. Half an hour later, the breakfast was ready. Sri and Sagrika were already there. I overheard Sri asking Tami about last night, and my chest tightened. They all had seen how I behaved and they were concerned about her.
"Nothing, he was drunk, he just changed and slept," Tami said, and I felt a pang of regret. I had been such a fool.
Sri mentioned how annoyed I seemed when Parshav asked Tami to dance. She didn't know the half of it. I had been consumed by jealousy, but it wasn't about Gaurvi anymore. Seeing Parshav with Tami had stirred something deeper, something I wasn't ready to admit.
"Everything is fine," Tami assured Sri, but I knew it wasn't. And it was my fault.
As I got ready, I couldn't shake the image of Tami in the kitchen, her eyes red and her spirit unbroken. She deserved better. And maybe, just maybe, I could be the man she deserved. But first, I needed to sort out my own heart and face the truth I had been avoiding.
I didn't want her to go to the seminar with him, and I put it very subtly, but she said she needed to go. Though I didn't like it, I could not stop her from going there, especially when I shouted at her in our room. After breakfast, we all went back. And for the whole way back, I kept thinking of some genuine way to stop her, but she looked very upset with me as she was not even looking at me, which was hurting me more than I could think.
She went away with him and I kept standing there looking at her.
" She is gone! What are you looking at?" Vihan said.
" I want her back... Did you see how he asked her to dance with her? He could have asked Sagarika, Sri, or even Roohi, but he asked... "
" Hey, why could he ask Roohi? " Vihan asked.
" Because she has not been in any relationship till now and is not married like Tami," I explained, and he calmed down.
" Tami looked sad today, did you say something to her after you went to your room? " He asked.
" Did it look very obvious that I was very angry? "
" You looked absolutely jealous. Tell me what happened! "
" We argued on how can she allow him to flirt with her and she said that he was just being funny by flirting with her. I got annoyed and then she reminded me of how it mattered to me as I never considered her my wife. And then... " I stopped as I never liked to discuss these things as Vihan did.
"And then, what?"
" I...kissed her. "
" What?? You kissed her? In that state of mind? You kissed her in anger? No wonder she is angry. You kissed her for the first time in the middle of an argument? She must have slapped you." He asked.
" No, she was shocked for a few seconds, but then she kissed me back," I said, and he whistled.
" So did you...? "
" Did what?"
" You know what I am asking. Do you want me to spell it out? " Vihan said with a naughty smile.
" No! I don't remember anything about the night after that, maybe I slept. " I said.
" You are such an idiot!! Anyway, do something as Parshav is flirting with her openly." Vihan said.
" What do I do? He is always around her; she spends more time with him than me."
" Hmm!! Let's find a way to change that. "

I went to meet Gautam uncle. He was in his cabin. His face lit up as soon as he saw me.
" Mihir, good to see you, how was your picnic? " He asked.
" Nice... "
" That's good, I heard that you all had a great time there. but what are you doing here?"
" I came to see off Tami," I said and he smiled.
" Oh, poor you, that's why you have this long face... " He smiled.
" Sir, that day you asked me to join the hospital back, but I was not comfortable at that time but after this picnic, I think it's not that difficult. You also said that I can just walk in if I ever want to join the hospital back. " I said and saw that he was smiling.
" Yes, And?? " He asked. He was not going to make it easy for me.
" Sir, I want to join back. " I said. His face lit up, and he got up and hugged me.
" Welcome, son!! I am so happy. " He patted my back.
" Can I ask for something? " I asked.
" Oh, you want to join back on some conditions?? A pay hike? But we can't match your salary at your own family business." He said. I shook my head.
" I don't want any pay hike."
" Want to be the head of the department? Well, you deserve it but the current one is very old and is about to take retirement soon. It would not look... " He was saying.
" Uncle, please listen to me... "
" Sorry, who is uncle here? " He looked around and asked.
" Sir, please I don't want to be the HOD."
" Then what? " He asked.
" I want... "
"What?? Say it, I am losing my patience." He said tapping his foot.
" Sir, I want the best dietician in the hospital to assist me. "
" What? Did you fall on your head?? That's not possible." He got angry all of a sudden .
" Why not? "
