Mihir's POV

"You get aside, honey. I will kill him. How can he think of you in that way and you expect me not to react?" Shlok was seething.

"It's not true. She is just my wife's sister to me now. I don't have any feelings for her... Neither good nor bad," I explained, my voice desperate.

"Shut up!! And Gaurvi, you know very well that I was feeling guilty all the time as I was getting attracted to you while you were engaged to him... And you know how much I tried to avoid you. But now you are my wife, already carrying my child, how can this pervert..." Shlok said.

"He is not a pervert, Shlok... He never misbehaved with me or any other woman in his whole life. He is not that kind of a person, I know him better than all of you present here. He has always been very honest with me. I don't believe he can do that. Please let him at least say what he wants to," Gaurvi implored.

"No!! He has said enough!! I can't allow him to be here to meet Tami. I have already called Tauji and Taiji," Siddh said.

Just then, Gautam uncle and Maurvi aunty arrived. Gautam uncle's face turned grim as he surveyed the scene and saw both Siddh and Shlok raging like bulls and my lip was already cut because of their punches.

"What's going on here?" Gautam uncle demanded.

"Tauji, I told you it was not a good idea to get Tami married to him. Mihir has been behaving badly with Tami. He threatened her that he would spoil her life as she agreed to marry him."

" What? " Both uncle and aunty looked at me with a shocked expression.

" Not only that, he even sent divorce papers to Tami. But she didn't sign then or tell anyone as Mehul uncle had that heart attack on the same day right after that." Siddh said.

Gautam uncle's face hardened. "Divorce papers? What is he saying, Mihir? Did you send her papers? " He asked.

"Sorry, uncle, I was feeling
frustrated as my family was pushing me too hard to start the married life with Tami. " I explained.

"Mihir, do you think this is a game? You think you can play with my daughter's life and then show up to apologize?" He yelled at me.

" Uncle, please, it was a mistake. I don't want to divorce Tami now. "

" Shut up!! Don't take her name, Tauji, this man here had the audacity to question her character. He thinks that she... The baby is not his, and... he even had the nerve to think... Gauravi's name!" He said, grinding his teeth and panting by now.

His voice trembling with anger but he explained everything.

Gautam uncle's expression darkened further. "You did what?"

Before I could react, his fist connected with my jaw, sending me staggering backward. Pain exploded across my face, but I stood my ground, knowing I deserved every bit of his anger.

I was so ashamed of myself that, could not even look into his eyes.

" Gautam, stop it!! "

" What the hell!! You did all that to my princess and have the courage to stand here in front of me? " Uncle yelled at me.

" All I can say in my defense is that I was drunk, I didn't know what I was doing, and didn't recall anything about it. So I was shocked at the time I got the news. I love Tami," I said, my voice breaking.

Gautam uncle's expression did not soften. He stepped forward and punched me square in the face again. The impact sent me reeling, and I tasted blood in my mouth.

"You love her? Is this how you show love? By hurting her, by sending divorce papers, by questioning her integrity?" Gautam uncle's voice was filled with disdain.

"You want forgiveness after doing all that? How dare you say all that to my daughter? Even if you were drunk and could not recall anything, how can you think that she can do something like that?" Gautam uncle declared, his voice cold and final.

I looked at him, my eyes pleading. "I know I messed up. But I realized my feelings too late. I know I don't deserve her forgiveness, but I can't lose her. Please, give me a chance to prove myself."

"Prove yourself?" He shook his head. "You had your chance, Mihir, and you threw it away. Tami deserves better than someone who treats her like an option."

Gaurvi stepped forward, trying to mediate. "Dad, maybe we should hear him out—"

"No, Gaurvi," he interrupted. "He doesn't deserve our time or consideration. Tami's well-being is our priority."

My eyes welled up with tears of frustration and regret. "Uncle, I know I hurt her, but I swear, I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to her. I love her, I do."

He shook his head again, his expression unyielding. "Love isn't enough, Mihir. Actions speak louder than words, and your actions have shown nothing but disrespect and carelessness."

The weight of his words crushed me, but I couldn't give up. "Please, just one chance. Let me speak to Tami, let me apologize, let me try to make amends."

"You had your chance, Mihir," Gautam uncle said firmly. "And you blew it. Now, leave. Tami is coming home with us, and she will decide what she wants to do with her life without any interference from you."

His words were like a death sentence. I had lost her, truly lost her. The realization hit me hard, and I felt the ground shift beneath my feet

"Uncle, please, I made a mistake. I love Tami. I want to make things right," I pleaded, but my words seemed to fall on deaf ears.

"No, Mihir. You lost that right the moment you decided to treat this marriage like a game. Tami is coming home with us. You will not see her or the child, we will get the divorce proceedings started as soon as possible," Gautam uncle said, his voice resolute.

" Aunty, please try and understand. "

Maurvi Aunty, who had been silent, stepped forward. "Mihir, you need to leave. Tami has suffered enough because of you. We won't let you hurt her anymore." She said.

" Please... "

" Get lost, if you don't want to be killed," Siddh said his eyes were red and he was clenching his fist and jaw.

"I won't give up," I said quietly, my voice filled with determination. "I'll find a way to make things right, to show her that I'm worthy of her love."

Gautam uncle's eyes flashed with anger. "You don't get to decide that, Mihir. Tami will make her own decisions. Now, leave, before I have you thrown out."

I looked around at the faces of the people I had let down so profoundly.
