"Father!"
The young lady yells as she walks after the man surrounded by five guards who ignored her calls. The lady has tears in her eyes but she refuses to let them fall. Tired and frustrated, she stops following him and exclaims,
"Your Majesty, I beg of you to stop!"
The king halts in his tracks, causing his men to stop as well. He turns around, a frown on his face. How dare she address him that way?
"Your Majesty?" he repeats, taking slow steps in her direction. Steps that are considered threatening to others but not her. She has had enough. The young woman straightens her back, blinking her eyes to push down her tears.
"I never see you meddle in the lives of my brothers, why me?"
"I am your father, I do not meddle in your life, I take care of you-"
"And chasing away anyone that wants to court me is considered taking care of me?"
"..."
"Father-"
"He's not good enough-"
"Who will ever be good enough?! I have tried looking at the heirs to the other wealthy families. I even went with you to Sheath on countless occasions!"
"Yet you've had eyes for only one boy."
The princess releases a sigh, nodding, "Yes, I have had eyes for only one man, and that will not change. But you are determined to see me crumble"
The king reaches out to touch her hand, "Elia-"
"Don't touch me."
Xerxes releases a soft sigh, watching her. The tears of his only daughter, whom he loves to death, cause his chest to tighten. She used to follow him everywhere, even to the training ground, and he would hold her right after he's done, and then at night when she had nightmares. Now here she is, glaring at him with pain in her eyes. The pain he's caused.
"I am the same age mother was when she became your woman. The same age mother was when she got pregnant with Elior. The same age mother was when her kingdom was destroyed. The same mother was when she realized she loved you. So why can't you understand that I love him?"
"..."
She nods, more so to herself, understanding that her father cannot admit that he is wrong. How disappointing...
The princess turns around and walks down the hall.
"Elia!"
"Do not have your men follow me or I will flee this place!"
She calls back, walking away from him.
"Your Majesty-"
"Don't follow her," he says, before turning around and walking in the opposite direction.
The princess emerges from her room wearing a cloak. She heads down the stairs and follows the servants heading to the training grounds. When the men see her, they begin making way, a few whispering, others turning away.
"And what is a delicate princess doing here?"
"Kit, where is Lucan?"
The young man arches his eyebrow at her. "Where are your manners? Is that how to greet your older brother?"
Elia rolls her eyes, "I am not in the mood. Please take me to Lucan."
Kit mimics her, ruffling her hair but she smacks it away.
"I'll find him myself."
"Woah woah woah!" comes another voice. Elia curses under her breath before she turns around.
