Chapter 21

I couldn't sleep that night. My mind was buzzing with new song ideas. Even after all of the other boys in Gryffindor had gone to sleep, I was still awake and unafraid. Around midnight, I decided to take a walk around the castle. As long as Filch didn't catch me, it might take my mind off of things.

I climbed out of bed and headed out into the corridors. The castle was way scarier at night. Anything could be hiding behind those shadows. "Lumos," I whispered, and the tip of my wand lit up. I looked around a bit and saw that Filch was coming. "Nox," I said quickly, and the light went out. I hid behind a post as Filch passed by.

"That's odd. I thought I saw someone down here," Filch commented as he looked around. He didn't see me, so he shrugged and continued down the corridor.

Once Filch was gone, I headed back into the corridor. I had to be more careful. I wandered around some more, but I quickly got lost.

I think I was on the seventh floor when it happened. I was near the Troll Tapestry, and by that point, I was sick of aimlessly wandering around. I wish something interesting would happen, I thought as I paced around the corridor. I wish something interesting would happen. I wish something interesting would happen.

Suddenly, a door appeared opposite the tapestry. I hadn't seen a door there earlier, and I was curious, so I opened it. I heard the sound of someone playing an electric guitar. I peeked inside the room, and I saw Frank playing the guitar.

Frank was good. No, that's an understatement. He was outstanding. I stood there for a while, just listening to him play. I wanted to take it all in.

After Frank finished the song, I entered the room and said, "I didn't know you could play the guitar. You're really good."

Frank's eyes opened wide. "GERARD! WHAT THE SLASHFIC ARE YOU DOING IN HERE?!?!?!?" he screamed.

"Chill out Frank," I said. "I was just watching you play."

"How did you even get into the Room of Requirement?" Frank asked.

The Room of Requirement? I had never even heard of that. "I have no idea," I said. "I just kind of stumbled in here."

"And you thought it was a good idea to come in here and spy on me while I was practicing?" Frank said.

Frank's so cute when he's mad, I thought. "No...I mean yes...I mean I wasn't spying on you! I just accidentally came in here and decided to stay when I heard you playing your guitar."

"Pansy," Frank said.

"What?" I said.

"My guitar. Her name is Pansy," Frank explained.

"You name your instruments?" I asked.

"Of course. All great rock stars name their guitars. I'm not a rock star yet, but I might as well start now," Frank replied.

"You know, you could join my band," I suggested. "We could use a rhythm guitarist."

"You have a band?" Frank asked.

I nodded. "We're called My Chemical Romance. Ray plays lead guitar, Mikey plays the bass, and I'm the lead singer."

"That sounds cool, but I don't usually play in front of other people," Frank said.

"You can't be a rock star if you only play in this little room by yourself," I reminded Frank.

Frank thought about this for a few minutes. "You're right," he said. "I'll join your band."

"Great!" I exclaimed.

"Where do you guys practice?" Frank asked.

"In the empty classroom next to the Potions room," I told him.

"You know, you could practice here," Frank suggested.

I looked around. "It's not big enough for four people and all of our instruments."

"It's the Room of Requirement," Frank said. "It can get a lot bigger than this. You just have to walk past it three times while thinking of exactly what you want the room to turn into, and the door will appear."

"So this room can turn into anything?" I asked.

"Yes, but it can't make food, since that's against Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration," Frank stated.

"Dang it! I was going to make a coffee machine for me and Mikey!" I shouted. "This whole Room of Requirement thing still sounds pretty cool though."

Frank nodded. "It is pretty cool. We can try it out during the next band practice." Frank started packing up his guitar. "We should probably head back to the Common Room though." Frank grabbed his guitar case, and the two of us walked back to the Gryffindor Common Room.

That night, I had nothing but sweet dreams.
