"Chuuya? No, I haven't seen him today; why do you ask?" you answer on the phone to one of the Port Mafia's men. "Yes, I'm aware he's an executive, I don't see why that means I have to use honorifics," you reply as the mafioso berates you about your so-called lack of manners. " He's a grown man and a terrifyingly strong one he's most likely on a mission I'm not aware of...what do you take me for, his babysitter? Look if I look for him will that make you stop whining? Very good, I've got better things to do," you end the call. You brush your fingers through your hair in an attempt to calm yourself down and let out a sigh. "Seriously, here I thought I could relax and make some dolls for the kids at the orphanage today," you mutter as you leave Chuuya's home.

You couldn't help but notice Chuuya's sour mood the last couple of days, so you made it your mission to stay out of his hair for a while, lest you wanted an actual beating this time. So, you weren't happy to be tasked with finding the man. You knew why, of course, he had been in a sour mood for the last couple of days; it was the anniversary of the deaths of some friends he had when he was 16. Dazai told you about it back when you assisted him during his mafia days. Unfortunately, the name of that group evaded you for some reason. Fortunately for you, in the previous year, you visited Oda and the kid's graves, and you happened to spot Chuuya paying respects to another grave, most likely the same friends he lost four years ago.

Before heading there, you made a florist store your first stop as you wanted to pay respects to those you lost since you couldn't bear to visit and ignore them completely. Next was the liquor store since you usually drank alongside Oda's grave. Despite being underage at the time, you would usually steal his favourite whiskey, and he would pretend you got it through more legal means rather than lecturing you. After what happened, you would do the same thing and drink beside his grave. It wasn't until you turned 20 this year that you could actually purchase the stuff and legally drink since the drinking age was technically 20 in Japan.

As soon as you enter the cemetery, you spot Chuuya holding his hat closely to his chest, kneeling before a gravestone. Since you had technically found him, you decided it was best to pay your respects first before bothering Chuuya.

You place flowers on the kid's graves, then sit in front of Oda's grave. "Back so soon, I know, but I came to pick up a friend and I simply had to say hello," you admit, opening up the bottle and taking a sip directly from it. "Don't worry, I bought this one, and Dazai seems to be doing well, so don't worry about him too much, got it..." you add, feeling a little down. "Screw it, I'll it need to deal with this anyway," you complain, taking a large swig from the bottle and placing it down.

After ruffling your hair a little, you finally stand up and walk over to Chuuya, who still hasn't moved. You weren't exactly trying to stay out of view, so he noticed you with ease, which only proved to sour his mood even further; despite that, he didn't look ready to fight; it was almost as if there was no fight in him. "Don't," he warns, and you knew that would be the only warning you would get from him.

Still unable to think of what to say in such a situation, you placed flowers on the grave, put your hands together and silently paid your respects. "I simply came here to pay respects I'll leave you be; I'm not heartless enough to try anything today," you mention before leaving, but Chuuya forcefully grasps your arm, stopping you in your tracks.

"Don't make me laugh, pay your respects? You didn't even know them!" he yells, his grip around your arm tightening, yet despite the pain, you only give him a sad smile.

Before answering, you deliberated your words carefully. After all, to Chuuya, you are someone he mistrusts and above all else, you're someone who deliberately gets on his nerves. "I might have known them or even know what they looked like; however, seeing you here, I couldn't help but wish to pay respects because believe it or Chuuya, I do have a heart," you finally answer.

After some time, he decides to release his grip on you and instead turn his attention towards the gravestone. "Do what you want," he argued, taking the hint you decided to leave him be.

That was the last you saw of Chuuya.

Once you returned to Chuuya's home, you found a rook chess piece on top of a note with a location and time in the room you had been using. You knew who had left it, and you couldn't decide if you found it admirable or terrifying that Dazai had broken into the place. Dazai always made a point to you which piece you represented on his chess board, not that he ever told you who this mysterious opponent was. So you couldn't help but question who the rook piece is. The piece itself meant strength and stability, essentially the backbone of a defensive or offensive tactic.

There was only one person that came to mind.

"Shit, what is that bastard planning!" you grunted as you raced out of the place and towards the location.

It was difficult not to notice the chaos up ahead; the noise alone would make any regular person want to run for it. Luckily, it was deep within the woods, far enough for most to hear or see.

It took some time, but you finally see Dazai within view, "a little warning next time, Dazai! What the hell is all this crap?!" you yell, not noticing the very person who is causing all this destruction. The whole area had craters everywhere, with miniature black holes flying in random directions with no rhyme or reason in the distance, yet whatever was throwing them was too fast for your eyes.

Amidst all this chaos, Dazai was unfazed as ever, with a knife to someone's throat, most likely an ability user. "Y/N just in time, I need you to carry Chuuya after he's done, I've got better things to do after this," Dazai nonchalantly answers. "You'll see him in a moment," he adds as he knocks out the man he was holding at knifepoint until now. As if predicting what would happen, you finally catch sight of who was causing this destruction, Chuuya. "Terrifying isn't it?" he asks, still unfazed.

Anyone who knew Chuuya would know that what was happening now was far from his own doing. That alone should frighten you, and it does, but there was something else. You couldn't completely describe what emotions you're experiencing as you watch the destruction. "H-how can something so frightening be so captivating?" you ask in a daze, not realising that you spoke aloud.

Dazai only chuckles in response. "That is what you must entice, after all, he's thrown away the collar I put on him, so now it's your turn, Y/N," he uttered in your ear. Before you can argue, he begins walking towards Chuuya, who finally has feet on solid ground and has yet another black hole above his raised arm. Not long after Dazai activated his ability, Chuuya soon collapsed on the floor, giving you the cue to walk on over.

"You expect me to seduce him of all people!?"

"It's the whole reason you're in the Port Mafia after all,"

"With a temper like his and how distrusting he is, how do you expect me to do that? It's-"

"Remember Y/N, when you find a jester a demon follows suit soon after," he tells you, placing a hand on your shoulder as he stands beside you, facing the opposite direction. You knew what, or rather, who he was referring to. You had already encountered Nikolai, which meant Fyodor would follow suit soon enough. But the question was when and where.

Looking down at the now-sleeping Chuuya, you hesitate to respond to Dazai. "You have been collecting pieces such as myself to beat this opponent of yours for years, will this move truly assist you?" you ask, looking at him with a sober expression.

"Yes," he states before making his exit. That alone was enough to solidify your resolve, crushing any doubt or guilt you were feeling previously. Turning to Chuuya, you sigh before picking him up and carrying him on your back.

"Sorry Chuuya, try not to hate me too much alright?"
