Chapter 42
Mikha Lim.
Just when I thought things between us were finally falling into place, Aiah's phone rang. She pulled away slightly, checking the caller ID before answering.
"Hello? Oh, Manager... yes, nasa dressing room po ako." she said, her voice still soft from everything that had just happened. I stood there watching her, a small smile tugging at my lips. Ang ganda niyang panoorin kahit kausap lang ang manager niya.
I stuffed my hands in my pockets, leaning against the wall as I waited for her to finish the call.
"Okay po, I'll be there in five minutes." she said, glancing at me apologetically before ending the call.
"Bakit daw?" I asked casually, though deep inside, I wasn't too happy na tinawag siya agad. Kakatapos lang naming mag-usap, tapos biglang may istorbo.
"Si Manager hinahanap niya ako. Kailangan daw niya akong makita ngayon." she explained, her tone unsure as if she didn't want to leave.
I sighed, nodding. "Okay, samahan na kita."
Her eyes lit up for a moment. "Talaga? Thanks, Mikha."
Of course. Like I could say no to her.
We walked through the hallway together, her hand brushing against mine every now and then. I wanted to hold it, but I held myself back. She just said yes to letting me court her again, and I didn't want to mess this up by rushing.
Pagdating namin sa lobby, I immediately spotted her manager. Beside him was someone I wasn't thrilled to see-Akira and his alalay-Dustine Mayores.
My jaw tightened, and I clenched my fists at my sides. Talaga bang kailangang nandito pa siya?
"Aiah!" Akira greeted enthusiastically, standing up from where he was seated. He smiled at her like she was the only person in the room.
"Hi, Akira," Aiah greeted back, her voice polite but distant.
I watched the way he stepped closer to her, clearly happy to see her. And me? Nakatayo lang sa tabi, feeling like an outsider.
"Who's this?" Dustine asked, his eyes darting to me with an unreadable expression.
"A... friend." Aiah said quickly, glancing at me nervously.
Friend? Talaga ba, Aiah? After everything we just talked about?
"Really?," Akira said, though the smug look on his face made my blood boil. "Well, Sir Rod wanted to discuss some upcoming shoots with you. I told him I'd help coordinate."
"Sure," Aiah replied, smiling slightly.
I crossed my arms over my chest, my mood souring by the second. "Miss Arceta, I'll wait for you outside," I said stiffly, not bothering to hide my irritation.
