Chapter 45
Mikha Lim.
I was sitting at the small coffee table in our room, my arms resting on the surface as Ate Colet sat across from me. The atmosphere was light, and for once, Ate Colet didn't seem so uptight.
"She really pushed you, didn't she?" I teased, smirking at her while I swirled my glass of wine. "Maloi, I mean. I saw you during the event—parang hindi ka mapakali sa kanya."
Ate Colet gave me a sharp look but didn't deny it. Instead, she sighed, leaning back against her chair. "It's not that simple, Mikha. I worked hard to be where I am. Do you really think I'd risk it just because of some personal feelings?"
I raised an eyebrow, amused. "So, inamin mo ngang naiilang ka sa kanya?"
She groaned, burying her face in her hands, and I couldn't help but laugh. It was rare to see Ate Colet like this—vulnerable and, well, human.
Before I could poke at her further, the door suddenly opened. Gwen walked in, her expression tight and her jaw set. The moment I saw her, I knew something was wrong.
"Captain..." she said, addressing me as she closed the door behind her. "We need to talk."
I frowned, sitting up straighter. "What's up? You look… tense."
Gwen walked closer, her gaze flickering briefly to Ate Colet before locking onto mine. "It's about Sheena."
Hearing Sheena's name immediately put me on edge. "What happened?" takang tanong ko, syempre kaibigan siya ni Aiah kaya natural lang na may pakealam ako.
"She's hurt," Gwen said bluntly, her voice tight with controlled anger. "Her boyfriend—he hurt her."
My stomach twisted at her words. "Hurt her how?"
"May pasa siya sa braso. It is fresh. And judging by the way she's acting, I don't think this is the first time she's been hurt." Gwen clenched her fists at her sides as she spoke, her voice shaking with frustration. "I want to file a case against her. Maybe Sheena doesn't want it, but someone has to step up."
I exchanged a glance with Colet, whose usual stern demeanor shifted into something softer—concerned.
"Did she say anything to you?" I asked Gwen carefully, trying to keep my voice steady despite the anger bubbling beneath the surface.
"No," Gwen admitted. "She's trying to hide it, as usual. But I saw the bruise, Mikha. This has to stop."
I exhaled sharply, leaning back in my chair as I tried to process what Gwen had just told me. "Filing a case is a big step. If Sheena's not ready for that—"
