Chapter 61

Mikha Lim.

The sunlight seeped softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. I sat on the edge of the bed, my gaze fixed on Aiah as she slept soundly beside me. Her face looked so peaceful, her breathing steady, her hair slightly messy but perfect in its own way. For a moment, I let myself get lost in this rare calm—her presence like an anchor to my restless thoughts.

A small smile tugged at my lips. I carefully reached over to adjust the blanket, tucking it snugly around her shoulders. She shifted slightly, letting out a quiet sigh, but didn't wake. My fingers lingered for a second, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

"Ang ganda mo talaga," I whispered softly, as though saying it out loud would make the moment last longer.

But I couldn't stay.

I stood slowly, careful not to make a sound, and grabbed my phone from the nightstand. The message from last night weighed heavily on my mind—Dustine Mayores. The team might already have something, and I couldn't waste time. I needed answers.

As I tiptoed toward the door, I glanced back one last time. Aiah was still sound asleep, her face buried slightly in the pillow, oblivious to the storm brewing outside our little bubble. I felt a pang in my chest. I just want to protect them.

I exhaled quietly before slipping out of the room, my focus hardening as I mentally prepared myself for what lay ahead. The truth about Dustine's family was within reach, and I had to know what my team discovered—whatever it took.

Jeremy pushed a folder toward me, his expression serious. "Mikha, we dug deeper into Dustine Mayores' family. You were right—may tinatago silang illegal operations."

They've been hiding under the guise of legit businesses, pero front lang pala lahat 'yon."

Halos mapamura ako sa narinig. I clenched my jaw and flipped through the folder, each page confirming their claims—offshore accounts, transactions, and links to a few big syndicate groups.

"May ebidensya na ba tayo?" tanong ko kay Gwen, who was working on her laptop.

"Hindi lang 'yon," dagdag ni Jhoanna, her tone colder this time.
