Jemimah slowly opened one of her eyes before opening the second one as she looked around the room. Memories flooded into her head, and she sat up in a rush. Her hand went to her mouth as soon as she remembered everything. Another look of surprise fitted across her face, realizing that she was in her room.
"Hey, why are you looking like that?" Tamiloore asked, and Jemimah swallowed. "Good morning, Tamiloore," she said, and Tamiloore smiled.
"Good morning to you too, Jemimah; what's wrong?" She asked again.
"How did I get back yesterday?" Jemimah asked, and Tamiloore shrugged, "Ask Vickie. I think I was already asleep before you came back," she replied and the door opened and Vickie walked in.
"Oh, see who is awake," she teased, and Jemimah chuckled, standing up and walking towards Vickie. "How did I get back yesterday?" she asked, and Vickie raised an eyebrow.
"Considering all the nonsense you spewed yesterday, I'm surprised you don't remember," Vickie replied, and Jemimah swallowed. "Just tell me, joor," she said.
"How did you think you got back?" Vickie whispered to her, "King brought you back. The gates were closed already, but he had them open it," she added, and Jemimah's eyes widened.
"He brought me back?" she asked in surprise, and Vickie nodded. "Yes, but when it was time for him to go, you jumped into his arms and hugged his neck and refused to let go," Vickie informed her, and Jemimah's eyes widened as she stepped back.
"Me? I did that ?" She asked. She jumped into King's hands and hugged his neck? After he refused to kiss her back? After he embarrassed her?
"There's no way I did that," Jemimah refuted, and Vickie smiled.
"No matter how much he called you Choco or tried to coax you, you wouldn't listen," Vickie replied, and Jemimah winced.
"How come I don't remember all of that at all?" she asked, and Vickie laughed.
"You should be grateful I forced those painkillers down your throat last night; otherwise you would have a really banging headache now," she said, and Jemimah smiled softly. "Thank you, Vickie; I still have a bit of a headache though," she replied, and Vickie chuckled.
"I think you should get ready for school; I think you have some classes today," she told her.
In the next hour, Jemimah was seated in class, biting on the edge of her biro. The image of her wrapping her hands around Micha's neck and kissing him was imprinted in her mind, and it wouldn't go away.
"Oh Christ, Jemi, he didn't even kiss you back," she whispered, her hands slowly touching her lips. "Hell, my first kiss didn't kiss me back," she chuckled.
"What are you doing with your lips?" Doyin, appearing out of nowhere, shoved Jemimah out of her thoughts.
"What are you doing here?" Jemimah asked in surprise, "Oh, I came to see how you were doing since I came to your room five times last night and you weren't in." Doyin replied, and Jemimah winced. It was a good thing she hadn't told Doyin about that party; she would have seen her embarrass herself so much.
"I..." Jemimah was yet to finish her statement when her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and seeing it was Bimbo, a smile crawled up her lips as she picked the call.
"Hello Abim, how are you?" Jemimah asked.
"Jemimah," Bimbo called, and Jemimah frowned a little, noticing that Bimbo's tone was off.
"What's wrong? I don't like the way you called my name," Jemimah replied.
"I and Jeremiah broke up." Bimbo dropped the bombshell and Jemimah frowned in her seat. She blinked her eyes rapidly, chuckling, "What did you say? You and Jeremiah did what?" she asked.
"I'm not interested in boring you with the specifics, but yes, we decided to go our separate ways," Bimbo replied, and Jemimah shot out of her seat.
"Please, Bimbo, you need to tell me what's going on. What do you mean you guys broke up? That doesn't make any sense to me!" Jemimah yelled.
"You should ask your brother why we broke up. He wants to kill himself," Bimbo explained.
"Kill himself? Bimbo, stop speaking in riddles and tell me what happened. My brother isn't suicidal!" Jemimah yelled into the phone.
"I called to inform you so that you don't hear it from other people," Bimb replied before ending the call promptly.
Jemimah stood there, frozen on the spot. Doyin grabbed her with worry. "Hey, what's going on?" she asked.
"Bimbo and Jeremiah, what's wrong with them?" She pressed on, and Jemimah's eyes kept blinking in disbelief. All of a sudden, she burst into a race, and Doyin got up after chasing her.
"Jemimah, calm down! I need you to calm down." Doyin hollered after her as Jemimah paused, panting. "I need to find my brother," she whispered.
"Tell me what happened," Doyin replied.
"She said he wanted to kill himself and that they aren't together anymore," Jemimah whispered, her hands shaking.
"I need to find my brother," she whispered again as she ran back into the lecture theatre, grabbing her bag and picking up her phone.
"What happened? Bimbo and Jeremiah breaking up? That sounds impossible; are you sure you didn't hear wrongly?" Doyin asked with a bewildered look on her face, and Jemimah laughed.
"I also hope it was a prank," she replied as she scrolled her phone and found the number she was looking for. She dialled the number and pressed the phone to her ears, the latter picked up on the second ring.
"Hi Choco." He didn't get to finish his statement before Jemimah cut him off.
"Do you know where Jeremiah is?" she asked.
"He should be at home," King replied, and Jemimah nodded. "Please go to him; I'll be right there," she replied.
"What's wrong, Choco?" King asked, easily detecting the edge and cracks in Jemimah's voice.
"Bimbo....." Jemimaih trailed off. "Bimbo said..." She trailed off again, her chest heaving upward. "Bimbo said.... Bimbo..." she trailed off for the third time.
"Take deep breaths, Choco, and talk to me," King instructed, and Jemimah took a deep breath, trying to settle her scattered thoughts.
"They broke up, Bimbo and Jeremiah. I need you to find my brother, please."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Writing this chapter made me feel so down; I can't imagine how Jeremiah might be feeling right now. My boy might be drinking his sorrows away, and that's just sad and terrible. And then Bimbo acting so self-righteous made me want to smack her across the face.
Jemimah is so worried. I'm so sorry, girlll.
