chapter thirty-two ; new beginnings
[ season 4, episode 1 ]

Within the first hour of training, it was evident to Nadia that Daniel and Johnny's partnership was going to be a lot tricker than everyone thought.

Their styles clashed in every aspect. All of Johnny's kids, excluding Nadia—had little to no defensive instincts. Most sparring matches were them just swinging at one another.

Day one was unsuccessful, to put it into simple terms.

Nadia wasn't exactly eager to go home, though. Ever since the night with her dad, she was constantly scared she'd enter their home to see him sitting down with her mom and sister for "family" dinner.

He'd moved into Encino, obviously. She hadn't seen the home herself, but it was massive, according to Kiara. Not much different from his old house.

Nadia wanted nothing more than to tell Kiara not to visit Cameron. She wanted it to be as if he'd never come to California. She had no idea what plans her father had in store for her—or the entirety of her family for that matter. But him being in Cobra Kai put her even more on edge, seeing as the dojo was so close to where she lived. It was like he was taunting her, almost.

Speaking of Cobra Kai, Nadia was beginning to feel like Tory finally realized that there was no point in starting fights she could never finish. Though she targeted Nadia in the fight, the LaRussos were the most affected. Tory messed with Sam as well, and breaking into her house was the icing on the cake. That battle didn't have anything to do with Nadia, and she was not interested in getting involved unless it became physical.

For the most part, she would be fine avoiding Valentina. But that haunting feeling that she could expose Nadia to her closest friends at any given moment held more power over the girl than she'd ever like to admit. She ran from what happened, and now she'd have to deal with the possibilities of facing the truth once again.

But it was becoming apparent that Val was not her only Romero problem.

"So you're icing me out now?" Wes inquired, once again attempting to break the tension that was evident between them the second she clocked in.

She lifted her elbow from the concessions counter, turning to look at her co-worker. "What did you think would happen?"

"That you wouldn't let whatever rivalry you two have include me?" He replied, though it sounded as if he was speaking in the form of a question.
