Daryl was curled up in a ball in his nest, tears rolling down his face. Ricks's hat was placed over his face so he could try and hide his sobbing. He had woken up from a panicked nightmare, he held a hand over his round pregnant belly. He knew he was close to popping, but all he could focus on was his panic. The prison wasn't necessarily perfect, but it was home now, and it was going to be the birthplace of his child. He was going to need to raise Carl and this pup here and that meant he needed to make it the right place, they had a nursery set up in the guards tower so that way the pup wasn't in a prison cell, but this place was making him have dark thoughts.

He didn't know what happened to his brother, but the nightmares that were causing him so much stress were of an undead Merle eating him alive.

Daryl tried to keep his sobs on the downlow, he was trying to stop himself, but each time he closed his eyes he could see the mangled face of his brother and the pain of his nightmares almost seemed to be real. He groaned as he began to choke on his sobs.

Rick was checking in on everyone, making sure they were happy and that the prison was becoming a good home. Carl was running around with Sophia while Carol, Maggie, and Beth were working on putting sheets up over different cells to make it more homey. Rick made his way up to the guards tower to check on his heavily pregnant mate when he froze just before the door.

He could hear Daryl sobbing through the door, Rick pushed the door open and dropped to his knees beside him. "What's wrong, Dare?" He asked as he pulled his hat off his mate's tear stained face, Daryl looked up at him with wide blue eyes.

Tears continued rolling down his face. "I'm sorry..."

"Why are you sorry?"

"I- I just.. I-." He was heaving, trying to breathe through his panic. Rick sat him up and took his hands in his own. He began to exaggerate his breathing.

"Come on, follow me." Rick said softly. He could use his alpha voice to force Daryl to calm down but he was honestly worried about doing that. He thought it might set Daryl off more, Daryl slowly began to breathe like Rick was. "There we go love, now what's going on? Why would you be sorry?"

"I- I ju-just.. I had a nightmare..."

"Oh honey, it's okay. It's okay."

Daryl looked from Rick to the blanket covered windows, they had put up blankets in an attempt to give them some privacy within the pack, he knew beyond that there was cells that his people were sleeping in. "Ca-can we raise pups in this place? It's a prison.. I-."

"We made it safe, it has walls, that is the best thing for us honey. Why are you so worried?" Daryl shrugged, he honestly wasn't fully positive. Maybe it was because he knew his brother had spent so much time in prison before the apocalypse started, maybe it was because he had always worried about ending up like his brother. He didn't really know, what he did know was he was stressed and nervous. Rick could scent it on the omega, he was nervous and scared. Rick pulled him into his arms and cradled him. "I've got you."

Daryl groaned and tightened his grip on his alpha, Rick smiled and peppered his skin in kisses. He did his best to remove the tears from his cheeks and then helped him stand up. "This is our home now, it is safe, and if it ends up becoming unsafe we will find somewhere better. Our child will not know this place as something that used to be used to impression people before the apocalypse. While this is a terrible situation, our child will not know life before the apocalypse." He dropped to his knees and pressed kisses to Daryl's swollen belly. "It will be safe for them, it will be a happy home because we will be there to support them as they grow."

Daryl smiled as he ran a hand through Rick's curls. Their blue eyes locked on one another. "Thank you.."

"What nightmare did you have?"

"My brother.. As a... Walker.."

"Remember what you told me? Only a Dixon can kill a Dixon, we will find your brother out there I know it." Daryl snorted a bit as Rick gave his belly a few more kisses, feeling their pup moving inside of him. "You're going to be okay, we are going to be okay."

Rick helped him sit down on the bed, Rick laid down and opened his arms, Daryl snuggled with him. Rick gave him a few kisses and held him tightly. "We have things to do..." Daryl whined.

"No, you're more important." Rick replied softly. "You and our puppy," He readjusted Daryl a bit so he could place a hand on his belly. He could feel their child moving within him. "You are more important to me, we can get things done around the prison later, for now you need some rest."

Daryl sighed and snuggled into him, he was lucky Rick was there for him, lucky that Rick was willing to love him even with everything that was going on. Rick couldn't believe how lucky he felt to have Daryl, that Daryl let him pup him.

Daryl was still shaking a bit, tears weren't falling anymore but he was a bit nervous. Rick held his mate softly, peppering his forehead with kisses. "I've got you. I will always have you Daryl, I won't let anything happen to you or our pups." Daryl grinned a bit and snuggled into him more, the anxiety was lowering. His stress was still there but he knew that Rick was going to be there to support him. Rick held him close. "Sleep now, I'm here. You're going to be okay."
