Gayathri woke up to an empty bed, Vivek still absent. She began her morning routine, getting Vaiga ready for school. The school bus arrived, and Vaiga left for the day.
Since it was Friday, Vaiga had the day off, but Gayathri still kept herself occupied. She busied herself in the kitchen, arranging utensils and appliances. As she worked, Gayathri watched the news on TV. The headlines flashed, and her eyes widened as she saw Vivek's face appear.
"What's going on?" Gayathri wondered aloud.
The news report ended, and Gayathri's thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell. She opened the door to find Vivek standing there, phone pressed to his ear. His expression was tense, and he spoke angrily.
"I don't care what it takes, I want it done now," Vivek said into the phone.
Vivek entered the house without acknowledging Gayathri, heading straight upstairs to his room. Gayathri watched him go, feeling confusion and concern.
She spent the morning watching a film on TV, trying to distract herself from the tension. When Vivek finally emerged from his room, he had changed into fresh clothes and seemed more composed.
"Hey, don't you have duty today?" Vivek asked Gayathri.
"No, Fridays are my day off," Gayathri replied.
"What's for breakfast?" Vivek asked.
Gayathri served him dosa. Vivek requested a cup of tea.
As she prepared the tea, Vivek stood behind her, his eyes locked on hers.
"Need any help?" Vivek asked.
Gayathri shook her head, feeling a flutter in her chest.
Vivek reached around her and took the sugar container. Gayathri's heart skipped a beat as she felt his proximity.
Vivek's expression remained neutral, but a hint of a smile played on his lips.He left to the dining table.
Gayathri prepared tea for him and served it. Then Vivek watched TV while Gayathri cleaned the plates.
Vivek played the song "Vaseegara" on YouTube and increased the volume. He hummed the tune loudly.
Vivek looked at her intently.
Gayathri left for her room upstairs, feeling something odd.
