Chapter thirty eight

(Y/n)'s pov:

I was gone before Ino woke up that morning, leaving her a thank you note.

Hayate was gone from my appartment too, and was back that afternoon with a box of chocolates to thank me.

He talked to the Hokage by the looks of it and nothing changed. But we munched on the sweets and yapped. I talked about training, Hayate talked about his woman.

I needed to kick him out before he ate ALL of my chocolates.

Also, Reji was showing me different techniques. And right now he's been teaching me to create small thick flat little Crystal pieces.

I can coordinate them to the place I want them to go, and It's like spying. When I concentrate I could see the reflection in them. To know what's happening, Reji said it would be usefup if I'd learn how to read lips.

I can manage with that. But for my fight with Kankuro a spying crystal won't help me. I needed an attack with these crystals.

Reji said I was doing just fine with my current attacks, and that if I'll become creative about it I could make up attacks on my own.

It took a good two weaks to master my Crystals coordonating. It was tougher than it sounded.

And just like that, the final exam's day came.

I rested it all out, Reji refused to train me in the last two days and ordered me to sleep as if I were a child.

But I slept for two days straight and now, on the final day I was more energetic than ever.

Standing in front of the mirror, I arranged my sweater and did my usual hair style. I was so ready for Kankuro.

And then I ran to the arena where the last exam will be held. And I was about to be late as fuck.

But at least I arrived.

As I walked in Naruto literally flew into the arena, lying on the ground exhausted from running. I couldn't help but chuckle as Shikamaru approached to help him up.

"You're such an idiot." He sighed, and then looked at me nodding his head in greeting.

He recovered quickly enough and jumped right in my arms, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Hello to you too, sunshine." I hugged him back, and I felt him grinning in my neck.

"(N/n)! (N/n)!!! I have so much to tell you! I met this pervy sage, and he tought me to walk on water! And guess what! I can summon a toad!"

He was so excited, jumping up and down in my arms and holding my hand.

With my energy, I almost started to jump with him too.

Only then we seemed to notice the thousands of people watching us, and Shikamaru facepalmed.

The crowd started to cheer loudly and clapping, and I couldn't help but stare up in awe.

"Welcome all, our deepest thanks for coming here to the village Hidden in the Leaves for this year's Chunin selection!" The Hokage's voice rand loud and clear through the arena.

Naruto's stared up with a serious determined face, yet his hand found mine, lacing our fingers. I squeezed his hand in encouragement.

"We have come to the final competition between the ten candidates who made it through the preliminaries. We ask that no one leaves until all of the matches have been compleated. Now everyone, enjoy!"

The crowd started screaming and clapping, growing more excited by the second.

"One more thing." Hayate spoke, taking out a paper and showing it to us. "There has been a slight change in the match up's." He spoke, eyes traveling to me for a moment before looking back at the others. "Now it's set. So take one last look who you'll be fighting."
