CHAPTER 18
[ Calvin ]
"Give your keys to me," were the first words that left Nicolas mouth when he dragged me to the school's parking lot where my car was parked. He must have stared at the Honda for eternity before whipping around to face me when he realized I didn't comply with his request. "Your keys," he insisted, "give them to me."
I shook my head. "No, I'm not leaving."
His face hardened. "We need to leave. I need to fix this."
I frowned. "Fix what? Nicolas, I already told you that I'm sorry. I'm the biggest asshole in the world, but you don't need to fix anything."
Nicolas poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue, showing his irritation. When he finally had enough, he grabbed me by the shoulder and forcefully ripped my backpack from my back. "Yes," he said as he began to rummage through the bag and retrieved my car keys, "yes, I do."
As he circled around the car and slid into the driver's seat, I looked at him in disbelief. "You said you weren't allowed to drive."
He stuck the key into the ignition. "I do not care about foreign exchange rules, Calvin. Not when there are more important things to deal with." He looked up at me. "Get in."
"No."
"Calvin, do not be stubborn."
Derek had just confessed his feelings for me and it swelled my heart so much that I was certain that it wasn't even functioning properly anymore. I was a horrible person for kissing him while I was still dating Nicolas, but I didn't regret it.
And that was beyond fucked up.
"I'm not leaving," I reiterated.
He took one look at me, sighed, and then inched his way out of the car. I wasn't fully aware of what he was planning to do until he stalked over to the passenger side and grabbed onto my legs, lifting me from the ground and hauling me over his shoulder. I would've never pegged Nicolas to have the physical capacity to do something like that, but then I never pegged him to be so persistent like this either.
He threw me into the passenger seat and no matter how many times I kicked and thrashed, he managed to use the seatbelt to tie my hands together behind my back. "Nicolas!" I screamed, but he didn't respond. He only shut the door in my face and retreated to the driver's seat.
"You drive on the right side, yes?" he asked once he got the car started.
"Nicolas!" I tried again. What the hell was going on? Was he crazy? I fully expected him to break up with me after seeing what he saw, not kidnap me!
He ignored me once again and backed out of the driveway. He didn't talk after that, not even to ease my concerns. I practically freaked out the whole drive, desperately trying to undo my hands, but none of it worked. I didn't like where this was going.
"Where are we going?" I asked when I finally gave up trying to fight my restraints.
"Home," he said, short.
"Home?" I questioned. "You mean my house?"
"My house."
