It was late in Avengers Tower, the kind of quiet that only comes when the world outside finally hushes. The city lights blinked through the wide windows like slow, distant stars.
Down in the kitchen, one figure moved softly among the shadows.
Bob, still wrapped in his well-worn blue robe and fuzzy socks, dried the last dish with careful, steady hands. The dishwasher hummed softly, but otherwise, the space was still. Clean. Calm.
He liked it that way.
He didn't need to access his powers, he was too worried he would hurt his friends. He just liked making sure everyone had a clean mug in the morning.
As he placed the final plate on the drying rack, he paused and wiped his hands on the robe. He looked around the empty room and exhaled slowly—not unhappy exactly, just... full. With something he couldn't quite name.
Then—fwump!
A soft pulse of silver light glowed beside the kitchen island, and there, sitting on the tile floor in star-print pajamas and mismatched slippers was a very small girl with red hair and big blue eyes.
Natalie Barnes.
She blinked up at him like she'd just stepped into someone else's dream.
Bob froze mid-step, eyes wide, "Whoa! Uh—uh—hi?"
Natalie tilted her head, clutching her stuffed white wolf in one hand, "You're... Bob?"
Bob hesitated, eyes darting briefly toward the security camera before remembering half the tech was probably enchanted by her mother (you) anyway.
"I... Yeah. That's me," he said carefully, crouching a bit. "You're Bucky's daughter, right? Your mom's the green one. I mean—magic. Not the skin. She's—uh—great."
Natalie studied him quietly, like she was sorting puzzle pieces in her mind.
Bob smiled gently and asked, "What's your name?"
She grinned shyly, "I'm Natalie Barnes, but Daddy and Mama call me Sparkles."
Bob chuckled softly. "Sparkles, huh? That's a pretty great nickname,"
