3~ Deployed

Dad came out of his office.

"Another murder at the base." He said

I grabbed my bag and pulled out my phone. There was a text from Sargent.

"Just found another body. It's Jack. I think whoever this is, is after your platoon."

I got in Morgan's car. We sped down to the base. I left all my stuff in the car. Sargent was waiting for me. He led me to the body. He was hung on the barbwire fence by my platoon's barracks. Jack was hanging there. His name was Payton Jack.

"I am so sorry Hotchner. I don't know who would do a think like this." Sargent said

Morgan, Reid, Rossi and JJ came up behind me followed by dad. I realized something.

"Sargent, can I see the footage from Mariner's murder and Jack's murder please?" I asked

"Anything Emily." Sargent said

He led us to the security room. He let me log in with my security code. I pulled up footage from the cameras. Morgan looked over my shoulder.

"Oh my god. I was right. JJ, did we release James?" I said

"Yes. Last month." JJ said

"Sargent when is the last time James checked in?" I asked

"This morning. He should be in the dining hall." Sargent said

I left the security room and went to my old bunk. I slipped on a pair of pants and my jacket. I changed into my boots.

"Don't come into the dining hall with me. He'll suspect something. I need cuffs." I said

Morgan gave me his cuffs. I hid them in my pants pocket. I walked into the dining hall. I sat next to James.

"Hello Hotchner. Back in the unit?" James said

"Yeah I am." I said

"Can I talk to you in private for a minute?" James asked

"Yeah." I said

We stood and walked outside the dining hall. When we were far out into the field, James wrapped his arms around my waist. I punched him in the face and pinned him down. I hand cuffed him.

"You are under arrest for the murders of Jack and Mariner." I hissed

I picked him up and walked to the parking lot. Everyone was sitting in their cars. Morgan started laughing. I threw James into the backseat before climbing into the passenger seat. Morgan drive to the building. When we got there, I dragged James into the interrogation room and uncuffed him. I left the room. I dropped my bag by my desk. Morgan was still laughing.

"Shut up." I said laughing

Reid and dad watched through the one way glass. I went into the interrogation room. I sat in the chair across from James.

"Why did you do it?" I asked

"They got in the way of me and you." James said

"We were never a thing and never will be."

"Jack especially. He had a crush on you."

"So this was all about me."

"If I killed you, I could've gotten a higher position."

"You were never gonna kill me."

"I just had to weaken you first."

"I'll make sure you rot." I said before going back to my desk

I erased my board and threw out all the pictures. I sat at my desk. I got a text. I pulled out my phone. It was a text from Tony, my boyfriend.

Tony:I'm off of work, boss let me go early. What about we meet at the park at 7?

Emily:two problems. One, destroyed my car in a wreck and I don't think my dad will approve.

Tony: wait, you got in a wreck? Are you okay?

Emily:I'm fine just a few stitches and an overnight hospital stay

Tony:I'm coming to the building. You still at work?

Emily: yeah but please don't come

I put my phone in my drawer. I checked the time. 10 pm. Everyone was leaving.

Rossi came over to me.

"You should go home. Get some sleep." He said

"Yeah." I said

I stood and slung my bag over my shoulder. Rossi and I walked out together.

"Do you need a ride?" He asked

"No. I have one." I said

"Good night Emily."

"Goodnight Rossi."

Tony pulled up. I got in his car.

"Where did you get hurt? Let me see." He said

I pulled up my shirt revealing my stomach and 16 stitches. I pulled my shirt back down.

"Is that it?" Tony asked

"Yeah."

"Alright. Let's go."

When we got to the park, we sat on a bench.

"Emily, I have to tell you something." Tony said

"What is it?" I asked

"I have to be at the base by midnight and I'm deployed in the morning." Tony said

"What?"

"I'm sorry Emily. They are making me go." Tony said

My phone started ringing. I went out to the parking lot and picked it up.

"Hello?" I said
