Sayomi's pov

"Sayomi, would you be willing to kill Sayumi if she would pose a threat towards the Leaf or your comrades?" Tsunade asked in all seriousness.

"...yes." I said softly. "But only if there's no other way."

We decided to visit Kakashi and tell him all about the mission, including our clash with Sasuke and Sayumi's sudden arrival.

He told us something about training Naruto, but he warned it could take long. "When will we start?!" Naruto asked enthusiastically.

"You'll have to wait for me to get out of the hospital." Kakashi replied.

"But I need to catch up with Sasuke!" Naruto exclaimed.

We eventually got ready to leave, but Kakashi said he wanted to talk to me. "What is it about, sensei?" I asked.

"Do you still want to bring her back?" he asked and I knew immediately who he was referring to.

"Of course I do, but I'm afraid I won't have enough power." I replied in all honesty. "She has grown so much in those six years, maybe even more than me."

"How about helping me train Naruto and train yourself too?" Kakashi asked with a closed eyes smile. "I'm sure you'll be able to catch up with your sister."

"I'm afraid the power gab isn't the only problem, sensei. Sayumi quickly hates someone depending on what they've done. She already hates Sakura and if we kill more Akatsuki members, I'm afraid, she'll hate the village." I explained. "She has always been the most violent one as well."

"I see." Kakashi said. "But my offer still stands."

"I'll accept the offer." I said. "But sensei, you should rest for a quicker recovery."

Kakashi had recovered and had explained Naruto's training. While Naruto was focussing on trying to split the leafs, Kakashi was giving me hints on how to improve my Chidori. Sometimes, Naruto would come to me for advise and I told him to keep focussing. He had also gone to Asuma for advice after he heard he had the same chakra nature as him.

During training, I noticed Sakura coming my way. "Tsunade-sama wants to see you." she said.

"I'll be on my way." I told her and warned Kakashi and Yamato about the fact Tsunade wanted to see me.

I went to Tsunade's office and noticed Ino and Chouji were there as well. We were sent as backup for Asuma, Shikamaru, Kotetsu and Izumo, along with one other jounin. Oh, I forgot to mention I'm a jounin now as well, I was recently promoted.

When we arrived, we saw Asuma laying there and a very sad looking Shikamaru. There was no sign of the Akatsuki members and we quickly made our way towards Asuma and Shikamaru. "What happened?!" I asked.

I looked at Asuma and noticed he seemed to have been burned and he was dying. I tried to heal him with my medical ninjutsu, along with Ino, but it didn't work. I stopped, but Ino kept crying, tears in her eyes.

"Ino, it won't work." Asuma said.

"Asuma-sensei..." I muttered, tears welling up. Chouji was crying as well and Shikamaru seemed to be trying hard to conceal his emotions. "Shikamaru, it's okay to cry." I whispered softly.

Asuma started saying his last words. " Ino, you are strong willed, and dependable. Chōji and Shikamaru, they are total goof-offs. Keep them in line. And, don't let Sakura beat you. In ninjutsu, or romance." he told Ino. Ino nodded as reply, tears still falling on Asuma's body.

" Chouji, you're a kind man who cares for his comrades. That's why... you'll become a shinobi more powerful than everyone else. Be more confident in yourself. And... maybe diet a little." he told Chouji.

"I'll try, sensei." Chouji said with tears in his eyes.

"Sayomi, you weren't my student, but I do believe you're a dependable and loyal Leaf kunoichi, not to mention you're from a well known and powerful clan. Please help out Ino in keeping Shikamaru and Chouji in line... And look after your own teammates as well." I nodded, still crying. He signed me to come closer and whispered something in my ear before continuing saying his last words to Shikamaru.

" And Shikamaru. You're so smart... and have great sense as a shinobi. You could definitely become Hokage. But... you're too lazy... You'd probably hate it. I never even beat you once at shogi... Ah, yes... Remember our talk about the King?..." He also said something to Shikamaru while we couldn't hear it.

He then asked for one last smoke and Shikamaru lightened it. After a whild, he stopped breathing and I couldn't control my tears anymore. "If only..." I muttered. "If only we had arrived sooner..."

"Sayomi, it isn't your fault." Shikamaru said. "I should have realised that guy's technique sooner."

It started raining, like the sky was crying as well.

All of us were silent on the way back to Konoha. Back in Konoha, Shikamaru told Tsunade everything that had happened. "I'll break the news to Naruto." I said. "Who's gonna tell Kurenai-sensei?"

"I'll tell her." Shikamaru said. "I've got a message to her from Asuma to deliver as well."

***

I walked towards the training ground where Naruto was still busy training. I noticed Sakura and Sai were watching from a distance. "Could you please let me through?" I asked, my voice hoarse from all the crying.

"Sayomi, what's wrong?!" Sakura asked, immediately having noticed I had cried.

"You'll hear soon enough." I said as I pushed my way through and made my way towards Naruto.

"Sayomi-chan! You're back!" Naruto exclaimed happily. "Where have you been?!"

"Naruto, there's something I need to tell you something." I said. "It's about Asuma-sensei."

"Have you been crying?" Yamato asked.

"Asuma-sensei is..." I muttered. I had been thinking about how I was going to tell him, but it was so much harder when I was actually facing him. "He was... k-killed."

"K-killed?" Naruto asked. "By who?!"

"I don't know, when I arrived, the one who killed him was already gone." I said.

At the funeral

At Asuma's funeral, I was standing next to Ibiki, who was standing next to Chiyoko. I absolutely hated the one who killed Asuma, but I got the feeling team 10 already had a plan to take revenge on him.

Asuma-sensei, your death shall not be in vain. I thought.

The feels TT^TT I actually cried writing his death...
