"What are you doing here?" I snapped at Zack as he stood with his hands in his pockets, "you have no right of being here. You are invading my privacy!"

"I just wanted to say hi," he said as he scratched the back of his neck, "and to say that I'm sorry about saying what I said to you today."

I sighed in annoyance. "Why can't you just let me be?"

"Because," he trailed off, "I want to make sure that you're okay. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one you have actually spoken to since you've been here."

"You don't know that," I glared at him, "you need to leave."

"Why can't you let me in?"

"Because I don't know you." I snapped as I pushed the door shut, but his foot was in the way. Did he mean that in a different context?

"My full name is Zack Henry Adams and I have a little brother called Matt, he is ten. My favourite colour is green and I like to eat pizza. My mom is a therapist and my dad is a lawyer. I hate English and my best friend is Grayson Mitchell and I really like your eyes," he paused with a smile, "now you know me."

I rolled my eyes. "We are complete opposites and if you ever come here again, my dad will have something to say." I slammed the door shut and locked it before he had the chance to answer.

I was not letting anybody in, not now and not ever. Especially Zack Adams.

"Hey, peach." Dad came through the door as I just turned off the TV.

"Hey, how was whatever you were doing?" I yawned, feeling extremely tired.

"It went great," he yawned as well, looking more tired than me, "I'm off to bed."

"Okay, night." I replied, lying on the couch as he headed upstairs to his bedroom.

And my mind turned instantly to Zack and the way he just appeared at my door step because he knew where I lived as he saw me go into my house that day at the beach. We're not even friends. I was not even friends with anyone in this town and I didn't plan on doing it anytime soon.

I headed up to bed and as I pass my dad's bedroom, I heard him talking to someone. I gently placed my ear on the door and listened.

"I had a really good time tonight," he whispered into what I assumed was a phone. A million thoughts crossed my mind, who was he talking to and why didn't he tell me where he was going? I listened in more and all I could hear him saying was, "I'll see you tomorrow night."

I glared at the door even though he couldn't see me, I was secretly cursing at him because now I knew why he was acting so happy. He had found somebody to replace my mom, he found somebody who would replace the role of being my mother and a wife to my father.

This wasn't fair, my mother only died eleven months ago. He couldn't just move on with the click of his finger with somebody to replace the loneliness in his life. He just couldn't.

I headed back to my room, closed my bedroom door and cried. My eyes were blurred enough so that I couldn't see, water was dripping from my eyes and onto my cheek and my mother's face popped into my mind as I cried for her.

I wished she was here with us today, I wished she hadn't left us the way she did. She was getting better and she was smiling and telling us how much she loved us and the doctors thought she was well again when she started asking for me. She was getting better, until the day she decided to end things.

She left me and dad and I could never forgive her for that.
