Chapter thirty four - Zack.

"I honestly can't believe it!" She said, her face going red with pure anger, "why can't you just give me time?"

I was pacing the floor of our bedroom, frustrated. "I've given you time, Penelope. You won't let me in! You keep building up these walls and I'm sick of trying to break them down! You're unpredictable!" I retorted back, hoping it would make sense to her.

"Well, if you're so damn sick of me then why don't you just break up with me so you can have a problem free girlfriend like the rest of them!" She yelled, tears swelling up in her precious eyes.

I hated seeing her cry but right now, I was so mad at her for not letting me in. She wouldn't tell me anything and I was sick of the secrets. But, I hated seeing her cry and I couldn't be the one to do that to her.

*8 hours earlier*

"Oh my god, Zack! This is freezing!" Penelope screamed as we all tricked the girls in going into the freezing lake which was nearly frozen. We all bursted out laughing as the girls came out shivering, did I forget the part where we pushed them in?

"H-Help me o-out." Penelope took out her hand while shivering in her bikini which she looked cute in by the way. I took out my hand and in once swift movement, Penelope smirked and dragged me in with her. So, she was right. The water was freezing.

Everyone began to crack up with laughter as I came up from the water. Luckily, I was only wearing shorts. Penelope wrapped her arms around me and smirked. "Revenge is sweeter than anything, Adams."

I kissed her roughly, making the boys whistle which broke our kiss because we were smiling too much. "You'll freeze." I whispered into her ear, nibbling onto it.

"No," she chuckled, "I've got you to keep me warm." Her voice was soft and I loved it when she spoke. We both walked out of the freezing water, shivering and half naked.

We began walking back to the cabin, the girls in front and the guys behind. "I can't believe this is our last day here," Laura complained, "I've had so much fun."

"But I'm not going to miss the pranking." Molly cut in, glaring at the us as we were still behind them.

"Oh shush, we know you had fun." Luke laughed and I completely agreed with him, I knew Penelope had fun.

"Let's get dry and have some lunch!" Amber suggested and no one could complain with that.

I thought this trip would be awful and awkward. I mean, Molly was the girl who cheated on my best friend and I was the guy and that was one of the things I regretted in life. That was the number one rule of the bro code. Never sleep with a bros girlfriend. Well, I broke that one.

I watched Molly and the girls talking and laughing and come to think of this situation, it wasn't that bad. Molly and I could be friends without it being awkward.

I mean, look at this weekend. It had been a blast and I've never had as much fun as I have had with these group of people and I was glad that Penelope was smiling for once. She rarely smiled, only around me. Especially when I first met her, she was a shy one but she warmed up to me.

"So, are any of you guys dating any of the girls?" I asked in secret as the group of girls were laughing and talking about girl stuff.

They all bursted out laughing and I gave a confused look. "Shane is the only one dating from that group."

I guess girls could be friends with guys without it being a big deal in this group and I liked that. But for me, I could never be 'just friends' with Penelope even though we were for a little while, I didn't know how I did it.
