Chapter Eight // {jordan's pov

I'm at home.

On my own.

Check my phone.

Nothing, though.

Act busy.

Order in.

Pay TV.

It's agony...

Sitting in my cell alone with nothing to do is as boring as working on the fence. I'm trying to keep my thoughts from wandering. I've only been sitting here for a few minutes and I already feel like I'm dying.

"You missed dinner?" someone questioned from my prison cell doorway. I look up to see Rick's icy blue eyes staring at me with an emotion I couldn't pick.

"Yeah, just wasn't feeling it," I said nervously. I avoid his gaze and looked at my mirror. A lot of dust covered the mirror, making my reflection unclear and blurry. I was quite grateful for that.

"Can you tell me the real reason?" he asked as he sat down next to me. I quickly glanced up at him when he was looking at me. I turned my attention back to the mirror. How could he tell I was lying so easily? I'm a cop. No, I was a cop. I should be better at lying.

I sighed.

I sighed

"Us.. I don't understand it. You still wear your wedding band and you have kids!" I explained quite loudly, using my arms for emphasis as I spoke.

I played with my fingers while he remained quiet for a little bit.

"I don't know why I wear it.. It's an old habit. It's a habit that I'll break right now for you," Rick replied finally. I watched him as he pulled off his wedding ring and put it in his pocket.

"As for Carl and Judith... Carl absolutely loves you and Judith is still young, she won't know any different. When she's older we can tell her that you're not her actual mother," he said, he paused and quickly added, "well, that's if you want to take on that role with them..." I could tell my eyes were glassy now.

"If they're okay with that, I mean.. I'd love to... But you don't have to take it off if you don't want to..." I trail off, referring to his wedding ring. Rick shook his head before putting his hand under my chin to make me fully look into his eyes. He quickly wiped my few tears away with his thumb.

"I like you. I want to be with you. I'd do anything for you Jords, including taking my old wedding ring off," he announced before kissing my forehead softly.

My cheeks flushed from his words, a small smile played on my lips as I looked into his blue eyes.

One thing led to another that night.

Rick and I snuck out into the room that had all the food. My stomach grumbled causing Rick to chuckle.

"I'm glad I skipped Dinner," I whispered with a smile. Rick turned to grin at me, he turned back around, looking through containers to find something for me to eat. He stood to his full height and turned back to me, he held out 3 granola bars.

"Beth reorganised everything, I can't find anything else that's quick to eat," he spoke quietly, looking quite annoyed.

"It's fine, Rick, thank you," I took them from him, ripping into one of the bars. How many granola bars have I had since I came here?

We sat down on one of the metal benches, Rick sat across from me.

"You can go back to bed, y'know, I'm fine here," I stated, opening up my second granola bar.

"We just had sex and you want me to leave?" Rick questioned, raising an eyebrow. A smirk appeared on his face when my eyebrows shot up.

"I-I, didn't mean it like that. You have to go on a supply run tomorrow morning," I answered, I glanced up to him looking at me, clearly confused.

"Lemme guess, you forgot about that?" I smirked at him. I heard him curse under his breath. He stood up, appearing at me side.

"You sure you'll be fine?" he double checked, gazing down at me with his eyes that seemed to glow, even in the darkness. I nodded, smiling at him. He leaned over and put his lips to my own, kissing me. Rick pulled away, turning away from me.

"Good night, Jords," he called out as he walked to his cell.

"G'night."

a/n: this is a short chapter, but it's ending is completely different to what it originally was. I like this one more. c:
