Chapter Thirty-One // {jordan's pov}

A/N: Some of the speech is taken directly from the episode 2 & 3, season 5.

"Jordan! I need to show you something urgently," Carl said as he jogged over to me. I was lying down on the same chair as before, trying to rest as Rick told me to. I rose an eyebrow.

"Alright, help me up."

Carl offered me a hand and helped pull me up to a sitting position. I stood up too quickly, causing me head to spin again. I groaned.

"They'll come back with food soon," he assured. I smiled at him before following him outside to the side of the church.

"Something happened here," Carl explained by pointing at markings on the wooden planks that make up the walls.

I frowned. It appeared as if someone was trying to get in. I looked along the whole wall. It was everywhere.

"Something was trying to get in..." I mumbled, touching the markings.

"Walkers?" the boy questioned, watching me carefully.

"People. They must've been trying to get in for some reason," I said thinking out-loud, "let's check the other walls."

Together, we walked around to the back wall and I spotted writing straight away.

'YOU'LL BURN FOR THIS'

I looked over to Carl who was inspecting the other half of the wall.

"Carl, look at this," I pointed out to the writing. He ran over and I knew he had read it when I heard him gasp in surprise.

"We need to tell Dad when he comes back. He told me that he didn't trust Gabriel and that he's hiding something. This could be it," Carl explained what his father had told him. I pinched the bridge of my nose.

We both checked out all the other walls but the markings were more prominent on the left and back wall.

"Carl, Jordan!" Rick's voice called from the front of the church.

"Stay here," I told Carl. He gave me a firm nod. I jogged to the front of the church where Rick was. I first spotted the two cart-like thangs full of food. Holy shit. We're definitely having a feast tonight. My mouth was watering at the sight.

Rick caught my eye and automatically started walking over. He was grinning.

"I missed you," I admitted quietly as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Missed you too," he mumbled. I pulled away quickly, grabbing his hand. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"We need to show you something," I spoke, pulling him around to where I had left Carl last.

Carl turned to face us, giving us a light smile.

"Dad, look," Carl pointed to the markings he had shown me earlier.

He let go of my hand and stepped closer to the wall. Rick frowned as he looked over all the scratches that covered the bottom half.

"They're deep," he commented, "like knives or something."

I nodded in agreement.

"We found something else too," I added. Carl and I lead the way to the back wall, where the writing was carved into.

"I don't know what happened, but whatever it is, we can handle it," Carl said hopefully.

"Doesn't mean Gabriel is a bad guy, but it means something," Carl added. Rick looked at the writing before looking at us both.
