› Jordan Taylor...... a Rick Grimes fan-fiction ‹
Jordan Aubrey Taylor, 31 years old, works as a police officer for the Atlanta Police Department. Jordan's life was all about her job. Nothing really mattered to her. She didn't want kids. She didn't...
I was walking to my Dad's house, very slowly... I was dawdling. Ways to start a conversation were running through my head. To say I was nervous was an understatement. Rick assured me that it'll be okay. It was the fact that I haven't seen him in over 15 years that made me nervous. The pale blue house stood out to me as I grew closer to it.
I could run away right now....
But, I was too curious to turn away.
I walked up the stairs of the porch, my hands trembled as I raised my hand to knock. The door suddenly opened, before I had the chance to make contact with the door.
"Oh!" my Father exclaimed, looking shocked at my presence.
"I can come back another time..." I mumbled, furrowing my eyebrows slightly.
"No, no. Come in," he replied smiling warmly at me. I returned the gesture and walked inside. The house's layout was yet again, similar to my own. It led me to believe all the houses around this area were.
My Dad closed the door and walked into the dining room. He sat down on a chair at the very end of the table. I decided to sit down next to him -- well, diagonally.
"Jords, wait, do you even like being called that anymore?" he asked immediately.
"Only Rick calls me that now. You still can," I replied, lacing and unlacing my hands nervously. He grinned.
"I need to apologise first and foremost. I left you and your brother without a proper goodbye and explanation. I also left you with your Mother.. I made a mistake and I'm sorry," he stated, stating the facts I already knew.
"Hudson didn't understand, no matter how many times I tried to lie to him about why you left," I said, remembering to when Hudson used to say 'where's dad?'
"I shouldn't have put either of you through that. I definitely shouldn't have let you stay with your Mom," he said while rubbing his neck. I sighed.
"It wasn't that bad, I mean, being with her."
"Jords, I know you're lying to me," my Father frowned at me. I shook my head, disagreeing.
"Truth is, she was fucking horrible but, she taught me everything that I shouldn't do. She is the reason why I am who I am. I do owe that to her... But, I could never say that I love her. Not after she got arrested," I admitted truthfully. The reason why I could stay pretty damn strong and be in the police force was because of her.
Dad bit his lip, "I heard about that."
I gasped with surprise, "then why the hell didn't you save us from her or at least Hudson? She threw a damn vase at me in anger because I accused her of being drugged up in front of Hudson.. I got him to call the police and then she was taken away and arrested. Somehow she got away with only being charged. I left home a year after she was arrested and I took Hudson with me. I joined the police force in Atlanta. My career became my life, it took over pretty quickly. Hudson soon left and bought his own apartment in Atlanta. He worked in a department store nearby my apartment. He was happy, y'know? He managed perfectly fine without you, Mom actually liked him. He visited her a few times every month... She was lucky to get me to visit once year," I recalled from my memory. It didn't hurt as much to talk about Hudson. Thinking of him made me happy. His happiness was contagious.
