Chapter 15

Ellington's POV

I slowly opened the door.

Me and Rydel walked in and it felt like I was in a nightmare.

There she was... The woman who took care of me since day one... The woman who I will love forever... My mom... In a hospital bed... Looking like a mess...

Tears started to form in my eyes again.

"Mom..." I said in a quiet voice.

"Son..." I heard someone with a deep voice say.

I notised a figure at the corner of the room and soon realized that it was my dad.

"D-dad..." I said and my voice craked.

Dad stood up from his seat and walked towards me and hugged me.

I hugged back.

Soon we let go and I sat next to mom's bed.

"Hello Rydel! It's nice to see you!" dad said with a soft voice.

"Hi Mr. Ratliff! It's nice to see you too!" Rydel said and hugged my dad.

A doctor walked in a few secomds later.

"Hello! I'm doctor Windmill!" the doctor said and reached his hand out.

"Ellington Ratliff!" I said and shoock his hand.

The doctor turned to look at Rydel and reached his hand out to her.

"Rydel Lynch!" Rydel said and shook the doctors hand.

"How is she doc?" I asked.

"I say that she was really lucky to survive the crash." The doctor said.

It felt like my world exploded from happiness knowing that my mother wouldn't die.

"When will she wake up?" dad asked.

"In a few minutes." the doctor said.

"Okay..." I said and looked at mom.

The doctor noded and left the room.

Rydel and dad continued talking and I just sat next to mom while holding her hand.

Please don't die mom...

Please don't leave me...

Please wake up mom...

As soon as I thougt of mom waking up her hand started to move and her eyes slowly opened up.

"Mom!" I said and hugged her.

"O-ow!" mom said and squeezed my hand.

"Oh sorry!" I said and let go of mom.

"Hi dear!" mom said and smiled at me.

"Hi mom!" I said with a weak smile and tears in my eyes.

"Cherly!" dad said and walked next to mom.

He kissed her head and took her other hand.

"Hi honey!" mom said with a smile.

"Hi Mrs. Ratliff!" Rydel said and walked next to me.

"Hello Delly!" mom said and smiled at her.

"How do you feel?" I asked mom.

"I guess I could be better but right now I'm fine." mom said.

"I'll go tell the doctor that you're awake." dad said and left the room.

Me, Rydel and mom talked for a while until dad came back into the room with a doctor.

"Hello Mrs. Ratliff! How do you feel?" the doctor asked.

"Okay I guess." mom said and tried to sit up.

"OW!" mom yelled.

"Mom! Are you okay?" I asked.

"I-I'm fine! It's just that my hand hurts alot." mom said.

I took hold of mom and helped her sit up.

"Thank you dear!" mom said and smiled at me.

A nurse came in the room and said something to the doctor and then left.

"The test room is ready! We are gonna take a few tests and some X-Rays to look at your bones." the doctor said.

"Okay!" mom said.

Rydel's POV

Few hours later I was waiting for Riker in front of the hospital.

Ellington wanted to sleep the night at the hospital with his mom and Mr. Ratliff left an hour ago.

I was thinking about life then I saw a light frow the corner of my eye and the light got closer.

I turned my head to look at the light when I realized that it was Riker's car.

The car stopped in front of me and the door opened.

"Hi Rydel! How's it going?" Riker asked and I got in the car.

I let out a sigh and closed the door.

"Alot is going on..." I said and put my seatbelt on.

Riker started to drive.

"How's Cherly?" Riker asked.

"She got really lucky! She only has a broken arm and foot and some ribs were cracked. She also has a slight memory loss but it isn't serious. She only lost a few memories but they'll come back in a few weeks." I said and looked out the window.

"Wow! She got really lucky then! And how's Ratliff doing?" Riker asked.

"He was a mess. But his life got dright when Cherly woke up." I said.

"Okay." Riker said.

The rest of the ride was quiet.

When we got home I walked straight into my room avoiding my family.

I'm sure Riker will tell everyone what I told him...

I took a shower, brushed my teeth and put my pj's on and got into bed.

I was about to go to sleep when my phone buzzed.

I unlocked it and saw that it was a text from Ell.

Goodnight beautiful! ~ Ell

I smiled at the text

Goodnight handsome! ~ Delly

I put my phone on my desk and started to think what happened today.

I got my memories back...

I smiled.

I have an awesome boyfriend named Ellington Lee Ratliff...

I started to fangirl.

Cherly survived...

A tear rolled down my cheek.

Today was a crazy day...

Soon I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
