ping!

i hurried over, knowing that it was probably her.

no.

i know that it definitely is her. i read through the chain of texts that was sent to me. my heart beats faster and faster each word i read.

what was i gonna do? how was i going to respond to that? and why would she want to go to the movies with me? do i even know how movies work?

logan: sure

i slapped myself. but she had already read it.

valentine: okay, well send me your address so i can pick you up, or i can send you my address and you can pick me up.

valentine: or we can meet together at the cinema

logan: let's meet at the cinema.

valentine: ok, here's the address.

[4:55]

i walked about the place, not sure what i should be doing. my hands are awkward and my legs won't stop moving.

so this is the cinema, i thought to myself. i've never been to one before. i find a seat and sat down.

and just then, a boy and a girl walks by. holding hands, and laughing.

i couldn't help but think that maybe it's what i was expected to do.

maybe, but how do i hold her hand though. these are the things textbooks and teachers never teach you.

"hey, are you logan?" valentine asked.

i nodded, couldn't help but look at her hands.

"okay good, well, hi, i'm valentine. aka cupid. i don't know it's weird isn't it. knowing that the person that you text daily is actually a real person," she giggled.

she cheery, but is that a good sign?

i nodded again, not being able to say anything, mostly because of my inability to speak.

"so, shall we?" she lended me a hand.

so this is how you hold the girl's hands.

she helps me up and releases my hand.

what?

"the ticket counter is just over there, we should go by the tickets, the movie is going to play in, like, 10 minutes." she smiles at me, and walks to the 'ticket counter'.

i follow her.

"2 tickets please, for..." she stops,
"do you want to watch mockingjay? or we can watch something else."

how was i supposed to answer that.

she gets the point and shows me the posters on top of the ticket counter.

"the one on the right, that's mockingjay part 2, the one next to it is peanuts, and the —"

i took her hand and pointed at the bright yellow poster with white dog and a balding boy that says, 'peanuts movie'.

"you want to watch that one?"

i nod.

she turns to face the counter, "two tickets for peanuts please,"

"sorry, it won't be on until 18:15."

"is it okay if we wait?" she asked me nervously. i nodded and gave her a smile.

"okay, we'll take two tickets."

the girl behind the counter gives us two tickets and we walked away from the counter.

"so, we have like a full hour to waste, do you want to go anywhere?" she asked.

i shrugged.

"what about the arcade?"

i raised an eyebrow.

"don't tell em you've never been to the arcade before," her jaw dropped, "you have to go to the arcade."

and with that she grabbed hold of my hand and dragged me to the 'arcade'.
