WriterActress: YEAH! I got more votes after much begging and advertising. And I got more comments. YES! Thanks guys!

Okay, so admittedly this is my favorite chapter in the whole book. Mostly because of...Drake. I love Drake. I love writing him even if I have to review some Shakespeare stuff to make sure he sounds like Drake, but Drake is one of those complicated characters to me.

His name means "Snake" or "Dragon". I stuck with Dragon because it sounded more faerie-like to me. So yeah, Drake gets to be all...complicated? I'm honestly not sure what to say to that.

I'll probably end up writing some stuff in Drake's point of view because I do love him. I hope you enjoy the chapter.

If you're curious about the pictures I'm posting for the chapters, it's from Brian Froud's work. If you adore faeries like I do, I strongly suggest his books Faeries, Good/Bad Faeries, and Froud's World of Faeries. I love the artwork and it's beautiful. It's also helpful on faerie folklore.

Don't ask me about the song. ^_^U Okay? It's just I was listening to Beauty and the Beast soundtrack and I kept replaying this song. It fits the chapter...somehow even though it's not all that romantic. Or at least, not romantic in the way that most people might like.

Anyway, enjoy the chapter! And I reread this chapter seven times just like SJ_Peplow told me to do, so there shouldn't be any mistakes.

Do you guys want me to make the chapters shorter? I realized that the average chapter for a story on other stories was like...five pages or four?

It'd probably make the editing process a little easier for me. .

Chapter Nine:

Faerie Wine

“Well, this is bad,” Ruth said as she planted what looked like a book that came from the medieval ages from her backpack onto the table. We all sat at the school cafe with Drake returning back to his tiny form, which I was still trying to get used to.

Big Drake was sort of attractive.

Even though he's a faerie, a pain in the butt, and a jerk, a girl has the appreciate good looks when she sees them even if it's a guy they don't like very much, but then again, I'm a girl with raging hormones who's never even kissed a guy-who knew that disfiguring scars could be such a turn off?-so maybe I have an excuse.

I sipped my coffee as Drake looked at the book and walked over to it. The book looked thicker than Drake looked tall in his small form and it smelled like rotting leather, which to me, isn't very pleasant. Who knows, maybe it's a turn on for faeries?

“What? The fact that it looks like you stole that book from a museum?” I asked as Ruth shot me a glare. I returned her glare with a smile. It had been a few hours since the whole Huli jing incident and it was starting to get dark already outside as the fall began finally touch our school with the leafs changing color, the nippy coldness that didn't really bother anyone, and the odd, weirdo smell of firewood burning. Maybe it has something to do with faeries, but I always smell firewood burning in the autumn with the nippy air. Most of my body felt pretty good considering how much I’ve been beaten up, burned, threatened with death...I think that's it on the list of Really Bad Things That Have Happened to Me Because of Faeries.

Ruth opened the book and pointed to a drawing of a fox that looked like she was in the middle of a transformation. “The Huli Jing is a Chinese legend, but can also be seen as the Japanese version, Kitsune. The Huli Jing is known to steal the “essence” of men when they sleep with them. This sooner or later kills the unlucky guy and she goes off to her next victim.”
