{LILY'S P.O.V.}
When principle Mathers opens the door to his office, I enter. "Please have a seat, Ms.Hayes." He says gesturing to the chair in front of his desk.
I sit down. Mr. Mathers closes the door, then sits in his seat behind his desk. "Mr. Mathers, I'm really sorry. David and I really were just talking," I say.
He waves his hand. "Just don't let me catch you doing anything like that again. So far you haven't been making a good impression on me. You have a good education here, and I expect you to to attend your classes."
"Yes sir," I say obediently.
He sighs. "Anyway there's something else I would like to discuss."
"Okay?" I say, not really knowing what else to say.
"I know your grandmother pretty well," He starts.
Okay, where's he going with this?
He continues, "In fact that is the very reason you are in this school."
"Okay?" I repeat.
"See, Ms. Hayes, normally any other school would not have taken you in due to not having your records prior to entering the school. I, however, let you in anyway because your grandmother did such a good job landscaping my front yard."
He paused. I guess he wants me to thank him or something. "Oh, thank you," I say sounding grateful.
He nods with a with a smile that screams 'yeah, I'm a saint, I know.'
I restrain myself from rolling my eyes.
"Yeah, well, we really need your records from your previous school. Without them, you won't be able to apply to colleges, and won't be able to graduate. So if you could just pull up a school website, we could contact them and have them fax over your records." He gestures to his
So many different things went through my mind. What I end up saying is "People still use fax?"
His eyebrows bunch. "Yes. All businesses use it daily."
"Oh."
"Just pull up the school website so you can get to class," He says annoyed.
I start to panic. "Sir. You don't have to go through the trouble. I can easily get everything myself."
What if when they contact the school, the school contacts my mom and she finds out where I am!? It might not happen, but it's still possible!
"It's school policy that we retrieve the records from the school."
Ugh. I guess theres nothing I could do. I walk behind his desk and pull up the website of my old school.

"Are you okay?" Carter asks me during lunch in the library.
I snap out of my thoughts related to everything that happened this morning. David just confused the hell out of me and my mom could find out I'm here. Why couldn't I be one of those people who's morning stresses are as simple as running out of toothpaste or not finding a prize in the cereal box... Do they even put toys in cereal boxes anymore?
"Yeah," I answer quickly. To change the subject I say, "Don't you want to go to the cafeteria?"
His brows furrow and he shakes his head quickly. "No."
I throw my hands up in surrender posittion. "Okay. I won't make you."
He smiles at me then looks back down at his book. I bring my attention back to the homework I got assigned last period.
