Josh pulled Maya to the hallway and once they got there he let go of her wrist and she sat down, so he sat down across from her. Maya broke the silence by asking, "So what now? You just bring me here and you have nothing to say?" "I didn't know who was supposed to start talking." he admitted. "Oh. Well I suppose you are since you brought me here, I figured you had something to say." Maya said, slightly confused. "Uh, I just wanted to talk I mean, it's been what like 10 years since we've seen each other, and what we only talked a little to each other like twice, what's wrong why is it so awkward with us?" Josh asked her. "I don't know if it's that anything's wrong, I get why I'm awkward-ish, what about you?" Maya replied. "Oh uh I'm not really sure, it was weird, I found out yesterday that you were coming and I was so excited but then I got here and started acting weird, I don't know." he confessed. "Y-You were excited to see me?" she asked, stuttering a little. "What?" He said, suddenly alarmed as to the fact he had unintentionally said something. "Y-You said you found out yesterday that I was coming and then you got excited to see me." she said, starting to smile. "Oh I did?" he started saying as he rubbed the back of his neck, "Uh yeah well I kinda was I guess." he told her, starting to lightly blush. 'Wait, I've never done this before have I? I've never blushed talking to a girl before.' he thought starting to try and hide his face. Maya had started blushing but when she saw him trying to hide it, she laughed at him and patted his shoulder and finally managed to say, "Hey, Josh, don't worry about it, it's normal, people blush sometimes, you don't have to hide it from me. Hey look, I was blushing at first too, it's okay." Josh looked up and her and sure enough her cheeks were still a little bit of a red-ish color, even through her laughter. "Yeah whatever, I so was not blushing. You imagined it." he said to her. Maya looked back at him and said, "Oh really? Then why are your cheeks so red huh?" "Whatever Hart." he said, giving her a little push. She pushed him back and said, "Oh Matthews, you know I'm right." He looked at her and said, "Okay fine I'll let you win this time. But next time, I'll crush you." "Yeah okay. Keep dreaming." she said. After their laughter had quieted down, Maya looked up and said, "Hey Josh?" He looked down at her and said, "Yeah Maya?" "Remember when you said you were excited to see me?" she asked. "Yeah. What about it?" he asked, suddenly curious to why she was bringing that up again. "Well to be honest, I was kinda excited to see you too." she said, with a faint smile. "Oh really? Well I'm glad you were, miss me?" he asked, looking at her. Maya looked back at him and smiled, saying, "Yeah,  I missed you. And did you miss me?" He smiled and replied, "I hoped you would say that. And yeah, of course I missed you Maya, how could I not?" "I always hoped you missed me too." she said. Maya then changed her position and decided to lay down on the floor. She put her head down on the floor next to Josh so they could still talk. "What are you doing down there? Come, that floor's gotta be hard, you can put your head on my lap if you want." Josh said, looking down at Maya laying on the floor. Maya got up and said, "you really don't mind?" "Whatever makes you comfortable is fine with me." he said. Maya got up and put her head on Josh's lap and he looked at her and about a million thoughts ran through his mind, but they were all about the same thing, 'I like Maya.' He then realized he might be staring at her so he decided to say something, but all that came out was, "Comfortable?" Maya opened her eyes and looked at him and said, "Yeah I guess so." "Oh sorry babe, were you sleeping?" he asked, she looked at him and it just hit him in his mind what he said, 'I unintentionally called her babe, ugh you're such an idiot.' Maya just looked up and answered his question, "No babe, I wasn't sleeping." He looked at her and thought, 'she heard you, you idiot.' But then he saw she was smiling and she said, "Hey, don't worry about it, you slipped up and called me babe, so what? no big deal." Josh breathed again and said, "Thanks." "I do have one question though," she started. "What's up?" he asked wondering what she wanted to know. "Why me? I can see you slipping up with anyone else, why me of all people would you call me that?" she asked, obviously very eager for an answer. "I don't know." he said. Maya wasn't convinced, "No, I know you better than that. You know why, you just won't tell me. Well c'mon why not?" she started saying and then she looked at him and he shrugged. "Josh? C'mon, if you can't trust me, who can you trust? Just tell me. Please??" "Fine. You're very persistent did you know that?" he asked. "Well I mean, I figured I was. But that's not what I asked come on just tell me." begged Maya. Josh coughed and said under his breath, "I like you." "W-what was that? I couldn't hear you, you wanna say it louder?" she said. "Do you really want me to say it?" he asked her. She nodded and said, "I really do." "Fine. Just promise me something before I say it?" he asked nervously. "Yeah, what is it?" she said. He moved her hair out of her face and said, "Promise me that after I tell you, you won't run out of here or stop talking to me or anything like that." Maya was alarmed now at what she'd opened up but saw how important he thought this was and said, "I promise, I won't." He nodded and took Maya's hand while she looked up at him all wide-eyed and he said, "Maya, um, I like you." She had just stayed in that position, lying on his lap for a minute and saw how important that was to him and how scary it was to tell her and she was happy he liked her. So she sat up and saw how nervous he was that she would leave but she didn't. She went to him and hugged him. He hugged her back and whispered in her ear, "Thank you." Maya partly released from hugging him so she could look at him and she looked into his eyes with her arms still around his neck and his arms on her back. And she smiled and said, "Um Josh?" He looked right at her and said, "Maya?" She was still smiling and said, "I like you too." He was so happy to hear that and then he gave her a big hug. She laughed, seeing how happy it made him. "So what now?" she asked, kinda confused. He pushed more hair out of her face, keeping his hand in between her face and her neck and he said, "Now, Maya, will you be my girlfriend?" Maya had a big smile on her face and nodded yes. Josh smiled back at her and said, "Good. Now I can do this," and he kissed her, like a little peck on her lips. Maya smiled and went and sat next to her boyfriend. He put his arm around her and she put her head on his shoulder and when she moved her necklace moved too and it kinda banged against Josh's arm and he moved it back to where it was before, saying, "Hey, you know I actually wrapped this." "Really?" she said, admiring it. "Yeah, your mom had left it with us and that's when my mom told me you would be here, when she gave me your presents to wrap." he told her. She nodded and asked Josh, "Ah I see, you wanna know something?" He said, "Yeah sure what's up?" "That beanie you're wearing? That was left over here by your parents for us to wrap up and I wrapped that beanie." she admitted. "Oh really?" he asked her. "Yup and that's also how I found out you were coming. Riley told me." she said, answering him. "Ah, yeah I remembered when you found that old silver locket in Topanga's room and how you wanted one ever since." he told her. She smiled at that and said, "Oh yeah? Well I thought of you when we were little and how you always wore beanies." He smiled and said, "Yeah. I always wore these. So what? Would you say I was pretty cute back then?" She laughed, "Yeah I guess you were, for a kid." He laughed too and replied, "I see, you were a pretty cute little girl too you know? So what do you think about now? Do I still got it?" She kept laughing and said, "Aw thanks, and now? Now you're even more cute babe. And how about me now?" He laughed and said, "Ah so I still got it and you? Maya, you grew up gorgeous." She smiled and said, "Really? Thanks Josh." He smiled and just sat there with her and said, "Anytime babe."
