"Your crimes are punishable my death...

Her voice still resonated in your ears.

Your actions can only be considered as treason. We charge you with conspiring with a murderer, and being his accomplice as well as influencing America's greatest hero to do your biding."

"She didn't influence me. I did it of my own free will."

Steve. It was Steve. He was there. He spoke up, he defended you. But the judge had ignored him, seeing him only as a manipulated object rather than a person able to make his own decisions.

"But as your skills are a desirable skills, SHIELD has hear by sentenced you to go in, alone, an AIM camp with nothing more than a spare change of clothes. You will gather the information they have and do as asked so to earn a pardon for both your actions and Bucky's. Bucky will be sentenced in four months. If you have not finished your mission by then, he will be sentenced to death. No further interaction will be made between you and your former- avengers."

Those exact words had escaped the mouth of the judge an hour ago. You were in a cell, treated  as a prisoner. You lay on your bed, staring at the ceiling and wondering what could be possibly be worse on this mission than being sentenced to death.

The judge was manipulative, using your link with Bucky and Steve to force you to try as hard as you could to complete the mission but what you couldn't understand was why the avengers, who knew full well you had not manipulated Steve had stood on the side, with blank expressions on their faces.

Your hand felt loud footsteps resonated through the floor. They weren't the regular beat your guard would give off. You had a visitor and by the sound of this breathing it could be no one else but Clint.

"Why have you come here?" You  voice was calm and yet you could not suppress the anger and resentment from seeing him doing nothing as you were being sentenced to something worse than death.

"To explain. The Avengers knew you didn't do anything wrong."

"And yet, they stood still, unblinking as they imagined by dead body being emptied of all it's vital fluid in  an AIM base."

"You need to know that your actions could not be denied nor could they be ignored. Tony was the one who avoided immediate death to you and Bucky."

You nodded, signalling for him to continue.

"Steve managed to get away with it because he was a hero to America. It's because he's helped them so much and they believed you were keeping him under you thumb. He's trying to get you out. In the past hour he managed to make more fights with the people who want you dead than drunk Tony could. It broke him. He's either been crying or fighting. He's not forgiving himself for letting you get mixed up."

You sat up and for the first time looked at Clint in the eyes. He wore a black eye. Probably Steve who had given it to him. You couldn't help but smirk. Then you immediately reprimanded yourself for doing so and scowled.

"Tell him I'm ready. Tell him I was ready 900 years ago when that arrow pierced my abdomen. Thank him for the time we had."

Clint was about to call out your name, to tell you that it wasn't sure you would die. But he stopped himself because you both knew that to convince someone they should convince themselves first.

You sat back down on the bed and Clint slipped a file through a little slide on the slide on the right of the door. You stretched and grabbed the file. On it in big red letters was written CLASSIFIED. You lifted the first page, carefully sliding your finger to support the spine. Your eyes slid across the paper only reading the information that had been underlined.
