Chapter 8
"Ms. Qahwah?"
###Maria Mathew's P.O.V###
My eyes were burning due to dryness in them, they felt soar due to crying. I felt so tired. I glanced down at the card but i couldn't recheck what i wrote, everything started to blur, however i managed to put his card and pen back from where i had taken them from. I opened my mouth to thank him and wish him luck, but no voice came out. I somehow just lifted my hand to tap his shoulder to catch his attention then give him a thumbs up... but my blurred vision slowly faded into darkness and the tidbits of energy left drained, i felt my body turn limp and fall right on something hard. Ouch! is my last word i guess, i myself could barely hear it. The last thing i felt is someone lift my head then place it somewhere hard yet comfortable, I was gently lifted of the floor into the air. For a moment a thought i am gonna fall, but i felt so comfortable that in a while my brain accompanied my body which had already stopped responding...
***About 2 Hours Later***
I found myself on a beach, laying face first on the wet sand... the sound of huge waves hitting the shore. Since i was facing the water those huge waves felt like monsters about to eat me, I tried to get up or at least close my mouth and stop the salty water from entering my mouth with each wave, but i couldn't. When the waves came i felt the cold water, when they left i felt cold air. I felt so cold but i couldn't move, not even enough to open my eyes. My eyelids felt so heavy and throat dry but i couldn't swallow either.
I just laid there feeling the waves slowly slowly swallow me more then before. This kept going until all i could feel around me was water. My body slowly started flowing to the point when it started feeling like i am sinking. I tried to scream for help, moves my arms and legs but my body just won't co-operate with my mind. I heard a loud crash then after a while of trying to make my body respond, i found myself shaking as if someone is shaking me.
"Maria! Maria, wake up!" I heard my mom's voice. I could suddenly open my eyes and see her waking me up as she usually did on weekends.
"Mom you're finally out of that room, i am so..so glad to have you back mom." I replied, my voice started to break by the end of the sentence. As if am about to cry. I glanced to see my mom giving me a funny look, like she used to do when i said things that didn't make sense.
"Which room and i never entered any room to leave one in the first place. Why would you think that?" She said. I wasn't surprised since she didn't like talking about that room.
" Alright. I missed you a lot though, and please don't do it next time for such a long period of time. I was so scared and worried about your safety, i felt so lonely the whole night and the following morning. I didn't know what to do, i couldn't even eat something..." My rant got interrupted.
"What the heck are you talking about???" My mom said and left the room. But her voice sounded different, like a man's voice. She never used such words as heck and hell either. I followed her wanting to know why everything felt so weird... Only to see her disappear down that corridor again. I hurried to stop her from entering that room before answering my question, but as i was getting down the stair i fell mid-stair and starting rolling downwards, banging my head a couple of times against the stairs. My head hurt so much. I tried getting up, to follow her but then heard footsteps... i glanced around but no one to be seen, even though i could still hear footsteps. The sound of footsteps kept getting louder,as if more closer to me. But yet i couldn't see anyone. I felt someone gently lift me up and oh-so-gently place me on the bed, Note the sarcasm.
