Lachlan's Perspective:

So, are we still on for our date tonight? xx (4:36PM)

I smiled, reading the text from the boy I met at my college, Preston. He was very sweet and we really hit it off, so I invited him on a date to a semi-formal restaurant near our dorms. I wasn't really sure whether him and I would go any further than a first date, but I thought it might be fun.

Then everything changed when I got another text from a different boy.

Hey Lachy :* Where am I meeting you tonight? You never told me xoxoxo

I completely forgot about having a date already set with Rob today. I was set immediately into panic, my first thought being to call my best friend to ask for advice.

I closed the messages and opened up the dial pad, calling Vik.

"Hello?" His British voice answered on the second ring.

"Vik?" I called frantically.

"What's wrong?" Was his reaction, sounding very concerned.

"I accidentally overbooked. I have two dates tonight at like the same time, what do I do?"

"Oh my God, you're so bad. You had me worried. Figure it out yourself, alright?" He replied and I was met with the dial tone. I pulled the phone away from my ear and stared at the blank screen, not believing he actually hung up on me.

And so, I brought up the message app once more, pursuing the only idea that came to mind.

hey rob! sorry i forgot to tell u, pls meet me at the steakhouse by my dorms @ 6? xo

I hit send and hoped neither of them would mind having the other around.

Needless to say, they were both extremely surprised and confused to see each other at the same place for the same person. It was quiet. They both stared at each other and then me.

Preston broke the silence, "Lachlan, who's this?"

"I could ask the same thing," Rob said, staring at me with a questioning look. Neither of them look angry, so I took it as a good sign. I smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of my neck with one hand.

"I hope you don't mind, but I overbooked my evening so I mixed everyone together?"

I saw Preston face-palm and Rob start laughing.

"Sorry to interrupt, table for three?" A waiter came up to our small group with a forced smile. I nodded and we were led to a booth. I sat on one side while the other two took the other side.

"So guys, is this okay?" I asked awkwardly. There were hesitant nods.

The rest of the night went better than expected. The weirdness soon wore off and everyone was joking. I think Preston and Rob hit it off nicely because I caught them holding hands under the table when I dropped my fork.

"Okay guys, for further bonding, you need to tell me your most embarrassing moment," Preston announced at one point in the evening.

"You just want to know so you can laugh forever," I retorted jokingly, thinking back to my most mortifying memory. Preston snickered.

"Are you going to answer your own question?" Rob asked quietly, a small smile on his face. The fiery brunet nodded.

"I'll go first," I offered. The other two nodded. "I was in ninth grade and everyone was at this camp. So I was there and so was my crush at the time. I totally wanted to impress him and all my friends dared me to go down the waterslide at the pool backwards," I cringed, remembering how much of a try hard I was for Vik, my crush during middle school and some of high school.

"Go on," Preston pressed, clearly interested in where this was going.

"Long story short, I went down backwards and my swim shorts slipped off and I landed naked in the pool right in front of him," I felt my face heat up at the memory, but laughed along with the two boys across the table.

"Oh my God," Rob got out between spouts of laughter.

"You're lying," Preston snorted, clutching his sides.

"I wish I was," I giggled. We calmed down eventually.

"Preston, you go," Rob suggested. The boy proceeded to tell us about the time he walked in on his two best friends making out. Then Rob told his story, which mentioned drama class and first kisses. We all were laughing until tears streaked our faces.

"Rob, you're crazy," Preston spoke, nudging the other boy with his shoulder. He smiled shyly, his eyes flicking to his lap.

"You guys would be cute together, maybe this was a date for you two instead of me," I smiled at the other two boys.

"Come on, Lachy. We're both clearly head over heels for you. Have you even looked in the mirror or done a personality check? You're a dream boy," Rob pointed out. Preston nodded along. I felt my face flare red, covering it with my hands.

"You guys are so sweet," I blushed.

"Sorry to interrupt again– here's the bill," A waiter smiled politely, setting the receipt on the table. I pulled out my debit to pay for the three of us.

"Thank you," He ran off once I successfully paid.

"Thank you so much Lachlan," I heard from the other side of the table.

"Yes, thank you."

"No, thank you guys, I'm sorry again for overbooking," I said.

The three of us stood from the table.

"It wasn't so bad, I got to meet this nerd," Preston pointed at Rob with a cheeky smile. In return, he got a light punch to the arm.

"I'll see you two around?" I said hopefully.

"Definitely," Rob giggled, pressing a kiss to my cheek and then a kiss to Preston's. We shared a shy look and then watched Rob leave the restaurant with a wave.

"I want to make out with his cute face so bad," Preston mumbled.

"Me too."
