"You shouldn't have come to school today" a smaller version of Bucky said with a worried look in his face

"I'm fine, Buck. The doctor said I could come back today" a small kid said with a smile that missed a thoot

"You still look pale" Bucky said worried

"Well, the sun will take care of that" the little kid said before coughing

"Are you sure you should-?"

"I'm fine, Buck. Really. Look, I promise I'll let you know if I feel sick, alright?" Bucky sighed in defeat

"Alright" he agreed "I just want to make sure my best friend will be fine to help me study for math exam" he joked smiling

"Of course I'll help. That's what friends are for" the little kid smiled

Bucky woke up with the smell of cooking. He frowned in confussion as he sat up wincing a little in pain and noticing he was in a couch. He then remembered the events of last night. The girl had helped him, healed him, let him sleep in her couch and put a blanket on him. Why was she being so nice? Did he look that bad that she pitied him that much?

"Oh, thank God you're awake" she turned to see the girl coming out from the kitchen with a glass with something yellow and a plate filled with something "I thought you were going to be in a coma or something. You still need to rest and recover your energy. I made you breakfast" she walked towarss him putting the plate and glass in fhe table and sitting next to him "Let's see that wound" Bucky slowly lufted his shirt to show her the bandage "Alright, looks good. I'll change it this evening" she then stood up and walked away. Bucky looked at the plate and glass curiously before she talked to hin again "Listen, I have to go to school. So there's food in the fridge, there's an extra room where you can rest, you can watch TV. Anything. I left my phone number in the fridge. Just rest, don't move that much, and don't leave the apartment, alright? I'll be back by 3, maybe 2. Ok?" She waited for Bucky's answer, he only nodded. Mikeyla smiled and left

Bucky stayed sitting in the couch trying to comprenhend everything going on. This girl was treating him like... like she wasn't Hydra. She was the complete opposite. He looked at the food in front of him and his stomach growled. He had to admit it smelt delicious. He picked up the forj and started eating. He closed his eyes enjoying the taste of the pancakes and the sweet orange juice. Once he finished he looked around for his backpack. It was right were he left it by the wall. He checked and everything was there: his uniform, his 5 knives, his gun and ammo, a change of clothes. He frowned in confussion. How come the girl didn't check if I had a gun? He thought she was either too naïve, too cocky, or too well trained that she could take on him. Remembering her features, he concluded she was young, probably a teenager, so she must have been pretty naïve.

While Mikeyla was at school, Bucky inspected the apartment. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, he relaxed feeling safe for the first time in months. The only thing he couldn't check was a safe box in the girl's closet. Passin in front of a mirror, he noticed how dirty he was, so he looked for a plastic bag to cover his wound and took a quick shower in the room the girl has offered him. He even had the luxury to take a two hours nap that his body obviously needed. He even decided to make something nice and washed the dished of his breakfast. He enjoyed staying there. It was a little bit lonely but he liked it, he liked the feeling of normality. At 2:24pm, Mikeyla arrived and found him sitting on the couch. She noticed he looked cleaner and he had other clothes on. She sighed with a smile

"You know, part of me though you were gonna leave. I'm glad you didn't" she said

Bucky frowned again, why would she care if I leave? She sat next to him

"Let's see that wound" she said. Bucky slowly lifted his shirt and allowed her to see. She inspected it quietly "Ok, time to change the bandage" She quickly left to her room and came back with the first aid kit.

As she took of the bandage, she noticed the wound had healed fast. Not as fast as a werewolf but still fast. She cleaned the wound and brought her hand to her lips kissing them and the moving her hand to lightly touch the wound. Bucky's eyes widened in shock at her actiong

"There. All better" she said. One glance to Bucky's shocked and suspicious eyes and she blushed realizing what she had just done "Sorry, that's what my mom used to do when we got hurt and what I do when my dad or brother get hurt. I kind of took after her. It's a habit" she said with a shrug. She avoided eye contact with Bucky while she put on a new bandage, but he was still watching her, intrigued by her strange behaviour. She put the first aid kit away when she was done and returned to the living room to see Bucky standing up "What are you doing? You shouldn't be up. Sit down" she said acting motherly

"I'm fine" Bucky talked for the first time since they met, shocking Mikeyla. His voice came out hoarse for the lack of use and he had to clear his throat

"No, you're not. You still need more days of rest" Mikeyla said getting over her shock

"I will be alright" he insisted

"If you walk too much, the stitches will come out and you will either get an infectioin or bleed to death. You need to rest" she insisted. They both had a staring match and Mikeyla found it hard to keep it up. Her eyes were full of determination while his showed pure curiosity

"Why do you care?" He asked

"I'm a caring person by nature" she answered with a shrug "Now sit down" Slowly, Bucky sat down back in the couch "Good. Do you need some pain killers?" Bucky only shook his head

"Why are you helping me?" he asked. Mikeyla opened her mouth to answer but nothing came out

"I-I just have a feeling you need help" she said

"I don't need your help" Bucky said sounding rather harsh

"Well, sorry, Mr. Independent, but, if I remember correctly, you were bleeding from a bullet wound which you couldn't reach to heal yourself without hurting and you passed out from exhaustation in my couch. Besides, people are obviously after you and, judging by the backpack, you have nowhere to stay. If I were any normal person I would assume you're a criminal and called the police instead of helping you, but luckily for you, I don't feel like being a bitch and I have a good heart. Which means you will listen to my recommendations about your health and you'll stay and rest until I'm sure you're good to be by yourself. Are we clear?" Bucky stared shocked at the girl in front of him ranting out a him like his mother would, he was at lost or words and also partly annoyed at her "I said, are we clear?"

"Yes, ma'am" came Bucky's natural response. Mikeyla smiled in satisfaction

"Excellent" she smiled and walked towards her bag that she left by the door, she took out a laptop and went to sit to the table behind the couch "Now I have to do some homework, you can turn on the TV if you want, or ask me if you need anything" Bucky only followed with his eyes, impressed and annoyed by this girl "Oh, tonight you can actually sleep in the bed of the other room instead of the couch, if you want I can wash your clothes later today" she said while staring at the screen of her lap top, she glanced up at Bucky to see if he had heard her

"Thank you" Bucky said looking directly at her, she smiled

"Don't mention it, bro"
