France has scars around his neck from the French Revolutionary war. (From the Guillotine). No one really knows about them except for Austria and England.
Austria found out when he went to talk to him after Marie Antoinette death and saw the stitches around his neck. England found out shortly after the Napoleonic wars, when he saw the markings.
The reason: It is so easy to hide scars with concealer and to wear collar shirts.
