tests & grades

When I walk into the building.
I know what is showing.
The aggravation.
Standing ovation.
Feet planted on the floor.
Desk moving to the beat of the door.
Lines upon lines.
desks upon desks.
Measuring our worth through the eyes of a test.
They say education is the future.
But what is futuristic about a teenager who doesn't sleep due to his finals being his only choice.
What is good about stress.
Stress leads to anger when you don't get that A+ grade.
Anger leads to sadness when it won't go away.
Days of planning all go down the drain.
All because that question was asked the wrong way.
How can We achieve in life, when all we think about is the test in slight.
How are the numbers more important then what we really face.
The baggy eyes and the worn out times are nothing compared to the challenges we face after.
Once school is over, what is left.
Its not the useless numbers on a page that determines what we say.
No, its the comments of the teacher saying "oh what a pleasure to meet her".
When its all over.
We are hired and fired.
We aren't tested on the most important things in life.
You can't get a A when it comes to suicide.
So depression and anger circle a kids head.
Because Ds mean you're a drop kick  and getting A's means you're going places
A useless award meant to make kids feel smart.
But what about the kids who are better at art.
There's no awards for partipation.
For kids who deserve a standing ovation.
So clap your hands and bow your head, because every hour a kid ends up dead.
