"Oh snap!"

In her haste to run back upstairs, Salma knocked straight into James, making him trip over his feet and fall.

"Oh my God," he groaned.

"I'm sorry," Salma whispered, trying her best to stifle her laughter at their clumsiness

"My neck has snapped." He closed his eyes. "Call the hospital. I'm dying."

"Stop being so dramatic." Salma laughed, helping him up.

"You're heartless. It really hurts!" James chuckled, then winced, twisting his neck around.

"What are you two doing?"

Their heads snapped up when Dean appeared on top of the steps.

"Appreciating the beauty of stairs," James replied sarcastically, patting the stairs.

"He tripped," Salma replied.

"You tripped me!"

"You tripped him?" Dean's face lightened up.

"It was a mistake," Salma made a face at James as the three of them made their way downstairs again. Her eyes fell back on the mop of curly brown on the couch, reminding her of why she had turned around in first place.

"Darn!" she squeaked, abruptly turning back again.

Once more, she collided with James, who collided with Dean and they tripped a second time.

"Oh God!" Dean groaned.

"What the hell are you doing, Sally?!" James complained.

"Will!" Salma whispered-screamed as she jumped over their bodies and dashed up the stairs, back to her room.

Five minutes later, her door was blasted open. Salma looked up from her phone.

"I threw the inverted nest out of the house," James said. "Come downstairs."

"You threw William out?!" Salma blinked.

"Is that bad?" He raised a brow.

"Yeah."

"How bad?"

"Mum will cook you for dinner."

"Oh." James blinked at her.

Laughing, the two headed downstairs. Everyone had gathered for a chat in the lounge.

"I still don't understand," Salma heard Dean as she made her way to Anne. "Why does Sally cover from William, but no body else does."

"Sally is her cousin, nutcase." James took a seat on the couch and whacked his head. "They are non mah-whatever."

"I know that smartypants!" Dean returned, making Salma and Asim snicker. "But why only her? The other ladies of the family, like Alley and Anne don't."

"Because Will is our Mahram," Anne provided.

"Yeah, but that's not what I'm getting at." Dean frowned. "You just explained that Sally's dad isn't your Mahram and same is the case with Alley and Will's dad but you guys don't run away, tripping people as you go, when they are around. Is Sally stretching it?"

The room fell silent as all the Muslim inhabitants of the house exchanged glances. Salma laid her head in Anne's lap anticipating the struggle with which they would explain their strange ignorance of the rules they knew by heart. Dean's questions were probably very embarrassing for her mother and Anne.
