Don't forget to vote/comment! Just a show of hands, here... who would be interested in book 2 about Alex's daughter?

Alex:

More and more of the details from yesterday flashed through my mind and I suddenly gasped. "What about my mom and dad?" I inquired.

Rylan scratched the back of his head as he thought for a moment. "I don't know, Lexi. My dad sent someone to your house, but he didn't tell us what he found. My dad also wants to meet with you when you feel up to it, though."

I gulped, "Meet with me?"

Something seemed to run across the underside of my foot and I jumped, yelped, and then scrambled backwards to pull my foot up, which landed me in Tucker's lap. Tucker wrapped one arm around me as he reached forward and smacked Kane lightly in the head.

Paris took a step forward before Rylan stopped him with a hand. Paris simply shook his head and stepped back to where he'd been standing. "Well, that escalated quickly."

Kane glared at Tucker and rubbed the back of his head. "What the fuck was that for?"

"For scaring the shit out of Little Red, Fucktard!" Cedric answered for Tucker. Cedric had retreated back to his place on the bed and was gently rubbing the foot that I'd had dangling over the bed.

Rylan sighed, "I think Lexi should meet with my dad soon, if you guys are done messing around."

Kane growled out, "I didn't mean to scare her, dipshit."

I sat up a little taller. I wasn't sure how to fix this, but I needed to try. "He didn't mean to, Cedric. I just wasn't expecting it and it tickled." I felt my cheeks heat up as I admitted, "At first I thought it was a bug."

Rylan stood up, "Let's go, Lexi. I'll take you down to my father." He shot Cedric and Kane a look. "And you idiots will stay here until you've worked it out." As we started to leave the room, he glanced over his shoulder to add, "please be mindful of my computer, this time. My father is tired of replacing it, and I'm tired of losing all of the data on it."

My eyes got huge, but I didn't voice my question out loud. Was he suggesting that they were going to fight and that they'd get so rowdy they'd break the desktop computer that had been sitting on his heavy wooden desk? I didn't have much time to think about that as I was dragged away.

Rylan led me down the hallway and a large, winding staircase. There was a huge living room, which I vaguely remember from last night. Rylan knocked on a door on the other side of the room and waited until a booming voice behind the door called out, "Come in."

Rylan opened the door and stepped inside, pulling me in with him. The man inside was huge. He was well over six feet tall, and I found it a bit intimidating that he towered over me. "Father, this is Alex. Alex, this is my dad, Gavin."

The room made me think we were in a log cabin. Everything was either red or wood, except for the rug in the corner of the room, which was black. The hardwood floor seemed colder in here than it had been in the rest of the house, and I glanced at the fuzzy, black rug longingly.

Gavin gestured to the couch that was nestled in the corner behind the rug. "Please, sit. Can I get you anything to eat or drink?"

I shook my head. I'd rather he just tell me what had happened. "Dad, I'll get her and the guys some breakfast once we're done here."

Gavin nodded his head once, "good. You treat your woman right."

I flushed and ducked my head. What did he mean by that? Surely he didn't think that Rylan and I were dating, did he? That would be absurd. Rylan and I had just met.
