Not a super long chapter, but after a week of working on it, I've finally deemed it as complete.

Alex:

Someone shook my shoulder and I attempted to pull the covers over my head. The shaking became more insistent. I cracked one eye open and glared at Rylan, who was practically on top of me. "Lexi, you need to get up. It's time for school."

"Don't wanna." I grunted as I pulled on the blanket once more.

"God, seriously? Have you been taking lessons from Kane?"

I wasn't all that sure what he was talking about, and I didn't really care. I was warm and cozy, that was all that mattered to me.

"Did I hear my name?" a second voice appeared from the doorway.

Rylan's weight shifted off of me, and I used that opportunity to quickly pull the blanket over my head. "Lexi, there are pancakes downstairs." Rylan tried to coax me out of my cocoon.

"Don't like pancakes." I lied.

"There will be lots of syrup..." Rylan tried again.

"Still don't like pancakes."

"Fine, skip school. Then you'll get in trouble, the police will get involved, you'll get taken away and probably put in the foster care system, and we'll never see you again." Rylan growls as I felt the bed dip when he got off of it.

Suddenly, the blanket was ripped away. I was hefted into the air, and when I looked to see what was going on, Kane carried me out of the bedroom and towards the bathroom. "Go get ready." He set me down on the cold tile and I glared at him.

I plotted my revenge on the both of them as I showered and dressed. I cringed at what I was wearing today. A hideous green skirt that barely came to my knees, a dark orange blouse with long sleeves, still no bra, and a pair of black platform shoes that made the entire ensemble look like something from the 70's. I suddenly dreaded what the next couple of days would bring, because I realized that these clothes had been in a box of things I wanted to donate somewhere. I just hadn't gotten around to doing so. I really hoped that Kane wouldn't mind loaning me a sweatshirt again, because this outfit was awful.

I stepped out of the bathroom with my arms crossed over my chest. I made my way to Rylan's room, where Kane and Rylan were both sitting on the bed, "Would it be possible to borrow your sweatshirt again, Kane?"

Kane jumped off the bed, "Yeah, sure."

Rylan frowned as Kane left the room, "It's supposed to be a little warmer today than it was yesterday."

"Okay." I wasn't sure what to say to that. Was he trying to talk me out of borrowing the sweatshirt? Because that wasn't going to happen unless he happened to be hiding a bra in here. I assumed that the chances of finding a bra were small, so I'd be living in Kane's sweatshirt until I could get to the mall.
I followed Rylan out of his room. I was startled when Kane settled an arm around my hips. I began to wonder if he knew that the mark on my hip was sensitive as he gently ran his fingers over my sweatshirt covered hip.

As we headed down the stairs, Rylan scratched at his hip and growled, "That's enough, Kane." Kane dropped his hand. What had Rylan meant by that? He hadn't even been looking in our direction.

When neither of them said another word, I decided to keep my questions to myself. We got down to the kitchen and my mouth watered just looking at the French toast and syrup that was sitting on the counter. It didn't take long to eat breakfast and get to the school. Rylan pulled into the same spot he'd parked in yesterday. I wondered if this spot was unofficially reserved for him or something.

I stepped out of the car and nearly stumbled into Cedric, who had just stepped out of the truck next to us. "Ready for another day of school?" he leaned close so that he could be heard over the loud roar of an engine revving nearby.

I shook my head, "Not really."

He chuckled and stepped around me to head towards the school. I followed the guys through the parking lot, but stopped and scratched the back of my neck when I felt like I was being watching. I slowly glanced around, but I couldn't find a reason for the feeling. An arm dropped over my shoulder and I jumped, letting out a startled squeak as I whirled around to face Rylan. "Are you okay?" His gaze dropped to me, and when he didn't see a reason to feel concerned, he turned and looked around the school yard.

"I'm fine, Ry. I think my imagination is just getting the better of me." I replied. I hoped that was all it was.

Rylan glanced around one more time before ushering me inside. "I didn't see anything, and the smells and sounds around the school are a bit overpowering." He bent down so that I could easily hear him.

I shrugged a shoulder, "As I said, it was probably nothing."

Rylan stared at me for a moment before finally shaking his head. "Trust in your instincts, Lexi. If you thought something was off, there's a decent chance that something really was wrong." I wasn't sure if I believed that, so I stayed silent as I slid into my homeroom seat.

I propped my chin in my hand and my elbow on my desk while listening to Mr. Miller take attendance before letting us know we could do whatever, as long as we were fairly quiet about it.

I sighed softly and Rylan's head snapped up to look at me. "What's wrong?"

I blinked and shook my head, "Who said anything was wrong?"

"You sighed," he replied, stating the obvious.

"Yes. My lungs needed more oxygen." I shot back. I wasn't sure why I was so testy with him, but my bad humor continued through my calculus class. I felt myself starting to relax as Paris walked me from math to science. I was surprised that Rylan and Kane weren't there yet. I really hoped that creepy guy wouldn't be in class today. Maybe he'd requested a transfer or something.

Unfortunately, luck wasn't on my side. Mr. Creepy walked into the room with a smirk on his face. He moved past my seat and sat down in front of me. "Don't have your body guards with you? Meet me after class. We have unfinished business to take care of."
