Sorry I didn't get my usual Sunday update posted. Luckily, I was able to get some help plotting out the rest of this story, so there is an end in sight! This will also (hopefully) save me from getting writer's block at any point in the story. Anyways, I hope y'all enjoy. :)

Alex:

My heart rate accelerated. I quickly looked around, hoping one of the guys would be nearby, but none of them were. My butt vibrated and I quickly fished my phone out of my back pocket. I kept my phone in my lap as I unlocked it, grateful to have something else to focus my attention on.

Lexi, Kane's last class is on the other side of the building, so he's headed to you now. I'll be there as soon as I can. –R

What did he mean, he'd be here as soon as he could? Did something happen? It was obvious that the text was from Rylan. I glanced up at Mr. Creepy to see him watching me, smirk still firmly in place. Kane stepped through the doorway a few minutes after the bell rang. Something was different about him. I narrowed my eyes as my gaze travelled from his bright blond hair down to his black sneakers before shooting back up to the huge slash in his black cargo pants. Mr. Lucas spoke with his back still to the class as he wrote something on the huge board at the front of the room. "Mr. Michaels, so good of you to join us. If it happens again, I'll be forced to give you detention."

Kane sat down heavily and dropped his bag on the floor by his feet. When he didn't respond to Mr. Lucas, I started to ask, "What-?"

Kane held a finger to his lips in the universal sign for 'be quiet' and then pointed to the front of the room. I could barely make out a dark ring around his eye. It looked he'd had a black eye at one point, but it was now healing. That didn't make sense, though. He hadn't had a black eye this morning. Maybe my eyes were just playing tricks on me and it was just the lighting.

As I turned back towards the front of the room, I noted that Mr. Creepy was glaring at Kane in a way that made me uncomfortable. I was pretty sure that he and Kane hadn't met prior to me moving here, so I had no idea why he had such hatred for him.

Once class was finished, I lightly tugged on Kane's shirt to keep him from hurrying to his next class. He stood still for a moment before turning back to me. "What happened?" He closed his eyes as I gently touched the slight discoloration around one of them.

He looked up at the ceiling briefly, and I imagined he was gathering his thoughts while trying to figure out what to say. "Got into a fight. It's why it took me so long to get to class."

"Who was it with?" I knew it couldn't have been with Mr. Creepy, since he'd been in class the whole time.

Kane shrugged a shoulder and didn't seem to think that it was that big of a deal. "I don't know. He got in a few Solid hits, but I'm sure they regret picking a fight now. The only reason he got any punches in at all was because I can't use my full power on humans." His voice was quiet, just in case anyone else overheard us, as he walked me to my next class.

"Oh... It doesn't look all that bad, though." I commented.

He opened his eyes to look at me, "I heal quickly. I had to duck into the bathroom to let myself heal enough that it wasn't overly noticeable." He ushered me into my English class. "I'll see you at lunch."

He gave a head nod in my direction and I turned to find Tucker standing behind me. "Is everything alright?"

I nodded, but then thought better of it. "I honestly don't know."
