I know, I'm late getting this up, and it's SUPER short. I figured that this will be a teaser for chapter 22 and I'll make the rest of the chapter a bit longer than normal to make up for it. My weekend got super busy (For those who haven't seen Finding Dory yet... You should! It was pretty awesome!). It's been a while since my last update, so I wanted to give y'all something for your patience. :D

Enjoy! I hope to have the rest up the day after tomorrow.

Alex:

After school ended, I followed Paris out to Rylan's car. I waved goodbye to the others as Rylan opened my door for me. I tossed my bag into the seat and climbed in next to it. I was surprised to see Rylan get into the passenger seat.

"You drive?" I quickly slapped a hand over my mouth when I realized how that sounded. I hadn't meant to be rude, but Rylan was the one who always drove.

Kane glanced back at me and smirked, "We all drive, Lexi. I just won an inconsequential bet with Rylan, and winner gets to drive the car for a week."

Rylan sighed heavily and leaned his head back against his headrest as Kane started to back out of the parking spot. "Kane, you have your own car. Why the fuck do you need mine?"

Kane drove slowly through the parking lot, "Because, yours is cooler."

I could practically feel Rylan roll his eyes, "Mine isn't cooler. Mine is older. It's also a piece of crap."

"It's better than mine." I piped up.

"You have a car?" They both spoke at the same time as Kane glanced at me through the rearview mirror.

"No. That was my point," I replied dryly.

Kane chuckled. It was a silent for another few moments, but then Rylan spoke up, "Good."

"Good?" I had no idea what he was talking about.

"Yeah, it's a good thing you don't have a car. You wouldn't be allowed to drive, anyways." He announced.

My brows furrowed. "Why not?"

"It's dangerous. You aren't allowed to drive until we've at least figured out how to control your coyote. Not only do we not know how fast you heal, but I wouldn't want you to hit some poor pedestrian because you couldn't control yourself." His explanation made sense.
"Then I guess it's not a big deal that I don't even have my permit yet," I spoke up after a brief pause.

"Probably not, Lexi. We can figure out the whole driving thing after we've figured out how to help you master this shifter thing." Rylan turned to Kane as he continued, "I asked the others to come over this evening to help us look through the book. They'll come over after dinner so that we can start working on it."

"Sounds good." Kane used the rearview mirror to glance back at me again as the car fell silent for the rest of the drive home.
