Chapter Twenty-Two
"Ouch! Em-Stop for one second!" I yelled at my enthusiastic, blond friend. She was currently brushing, more like yanking, my brown hair since I promised she could have complete control over my hair and make up choice for Danny's party tonight. Parker was going to drive us there where we would meet up with Logan.
Emma stopped brushing my hair with an apologetic look I her face. "I'm sorry! It's not my fault that you have a sensitive scalp!" she yelled, exasperated.
"I know! But you could go a little easy on me , you know!" I said, equally frustrated.
"Ok, I'm sorry. Can I please finish your hair now?" she asked.
I smiled up at her and nodded, it's not like I could be mad at her forever for something so silly. She brushed my hair out, much more gentle, and turned on my flat iron.
She sprayed some anti-frizz crap into my hair then parted it. She took her sweet time running the iron through my hair. I watched my hair transform from a big ball of frizzy, brown fur to something sleek, shiny and chocolate colored. I admired her work and watched her continue, taking two strands from the two front sides and made them wavy, pinning them to the back of my head with a big, black bow.
"You like?" she asked proudly. I grinned and nodded. It was simple, yet pretty and classy. She spun the chair I was in so I faced her and she began working on my face.
She started with foundation and blush, not applying too much. Then outlined my eye in black, adding a gold color to bring out the small brown flecks in my irises. She finished with mascara and a light pink lip stain.
She, yet again, spun the chair so I could see my face. I gasped. The girl in the mirror was not me. She was some glowing, gorgeous angel. Emma needed to be a professional at this, like seriously.
"Wow, Emma. This is so great! Thank you so much!" I exclaimed.
"No problem, Tessa. It was my pleasure. I want to Go to beauty school and be a cosmetologist I decided. Maybe I'll be able to do makeup for Jennifer Lawrence some day." She winked. We both laughed since Andrew was now married to her.
"Now go put on your pretty dress so I can get ready too!" She shoved me into my closet where I changed out of my grey sweatpants and white V-neck and into my princess gown that went to my mid thigh. The top clung like a second skin but the way the bottom flowed out made me want to twirl to feel the air brush underneath me. I did just that.
I slipped on my black heels I bought with Emma and walked out of my closet.
Emma was currently finishing up curling her hair elegantly with her make up already done. She looked flawless, like usual.
Her eyes widened when she looked at me. "You look so beautiful, Tess!" She said, hugging me.
"Thanks! I feel beautiful." I shyly said. I watched Emma finish getting ready and looked her over.
Her dress was a pearl color, that contrasted with her tan skin. Her blond hair went down to her waist, curled to perfection with no hair out of place. Her makeup was striking with a smokey eye look and deep red lipstick. Her shoes were a shiny gold that went with the hair band on her head.
"Aw, Ems, you look so gorgeous! l" I gushed at her, poking her stomach to tickle her.
"Why thank you, Miss Richards." she said in a fake posh accent.
I looked at my phone and saw that Parker would be here any minute. I grabbed my black clutch that had a mint blue now on it to match my whole dress then slipped my mask on, Emma doing the same thing.
We just made it down stairs when the bell rang, signaling Parker's arrival. I shouted a good bye to my parents and exited my house, Emma trailing close behind me.
"Hey, babe, are you-" Parker cut himself off, his eyes widening and roaming my body. His eye brows shot up to his hairline.
I took this time to check him out myself. He looked especially handsome in a black button down, black slacks, and a mint blue tie to match my dress in to tie it together. He was clutching a red rose and his own mask in his hands.
"You-uh-y-y-oh-um..." he stuttered. I giggled and pecked my lips on his cheek.
"Thanks." I whispered in his ear. I smiled cockily at him while he furiously blushed. How cute!
"So," he cleared his throat, "are you ready?" he asked us.
"Yup!" I said.
"Oh, this is for...um for you." He held out the red rose to me sweetly. I smiled and accepted it.
He escorted Emma and I both out to his car where I rode shotgun and Emma crawled into the back seat.
Parker started the ignition. "Let's get this show on the road."
