"Hey, Aaron?" I called nervously down the hall. I was praying inside my mind that he didn't remember what today was, or at least how old I will be. All I could think about was what he did for Nick's eighteenth birthday, and those images need to be bleached and burned.
"Yeah buddy?" He poked his head out of his room, tying his tie with his slender hands. He always was a morning person, no matter how early.
"Do you uh, have an extra black tie? White ties and white shirts clash majorly," I glanced down at the white tee covering my chest. I remember since my first year, I'd wear khaki pants with white shirts and the standard cardigan or sweater. And then around Year Six I figured out I could work in my pyjamas, being home schooled. Since then, I haven't bothered with ties or fancy shirts, but tonight I had to. Tonight was the band's concert performance, and Aaron had practically begged me to go.
Aaron let out a laugh and slipped back into his room. He soon returned and walked to the guest room, currently my own bedroom while I resided in his flat. I graciously took the tie from him and fit it around my neck and under the collar. I fiddled with it a little longer than necessary, and then turning and looking at Aaron with puppy dog eyes.
"Woah woah woah now, what's with the face, mate?" He held up his hands, own eyes going wide. "Is it because today is so important?"
"So you do remember," I couldn't help but sigh out. "And I guess we could put it that way, Aaron it's my first time being in a super public place on my birthday and you know how I dislike being the center of attention." I hid my face in my hands. "I swear go god, don't you say bloody anything to anyone."
He lowered his hands and nodded. "Not a word to any living soul tonight."
"Do any of our friends know?" I relaxed a little, turning away and grabbing my phone from the nightstand.
"Erm, not that I know of? Okay I understand you not being a people person, but what is the real reason behind this small panic?" He grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to stop everything I was doing. "Is it because of him?"
"Pete?"
"Ye- no. I totally meant the neighbor, Dan. Of course I mean Pete." He expression softened. It was easy to well that Aaron cared about me a lot.
"Aaron, you can say his name. I'm not going to emotionally break down," I walk around him and locate my converse. "Also, you're already having me dress up this much, I'm wearing my Converse."
"I'm actually on the floor during show and I'm wearing my own Converse," he laughed a little. "But seriously, is it?"
I looked up and nodded a little. "Eh, a-"
"Wait, didn't you say he was older than you?" I slowly nodded. "And you're turning eighteen?" I nodded again. He put his hands on his hips and tilted his head a little with a smirk. "Is it about not being with him because now you're both legal?"
"Oh god, Aaron no!" I could feel my face practically burst into flames. I quickly tied off my laces and grabbed my black cardigan from the foot of my bed and ran out the door.
"You ran away!" He called after me, running as well. As soon as we were out the door he stopped and threw his head back. "Patrick wanted the birthday sex!"
"Birthday sex? What in bloody fucking hell did I walk up to?"
I turned around and saw another good friend of mine. She was wearing a small black dress with a white collar and white lace at the bottom of the skirt. Her brown eyes were big and bold against her tan yet pale skin, adding more contrast with her half black and half blonde dyed hair. I offered a tight smile, slapping a hand over Aaron's mouth.
