The trip to Hogsmeade wasn't as exciting as I pictured it to be two days ago. The fact that there weren't dresses with my size left made it even worse. Tristan and Claire were together as on a date "getting to know each other". I felt sick just looking at them. Lydia and Miles were trying to lighten up my mood with a Butterbeer, but even that didn't help. While Lydia was telling us a story of her childhood I looked out thru the glass of the window and spotted Fred, George, Angelina and two other girls play with the snow. The last time I had a snow fight was with my mother and I missed those days. How much I needed her now. She would've given me the best advice for my situation and even tell me why I was feeling that way. I missed her so much. I knew dad was trying to be both roles and he was doing a great job, but there were topics in which only she could help me.
"Gee? Gee? Georgiana?" After hearing my full name I blinked and turned my head towards Lydia who tried to get my attention.
"Sorry..."
"Gee, try not to think about him..."
"I am not thinking about him." I answered and gave her a puzzled look, but the pity in her eyes wasn't leaving. "I was thinking about my mother." I cleared things out hoping she will stop with the sad eyes, but I received a double amount as Miles joined her pity expression towards me. "You know, I will go take a fresh air." I said and put on my coat, scarf and hat before leaving.
I never liked the cold, but I preferred it than being around people who looked at me with sorrow in their eyes. I kicked the snow out of my way to the Shrieking Shack, there was a spot near it's fence where you could sit and enjoy the silence. The warm steam leaving my mouth was somehow relaxing to watch, I wish that was enough to help me clear my mind. I watched the house and tried to picture our house back in France. The huge yard behind it and the vintage style of the interior. How my mother always prepared my breakfast and how she caressed my hair while we were having picnics and I was resting my head on her lap. How we were playing cards and word games. Everything back then seemed like heaven. I missed my heaven with her. If only I could turn back time, just for a moment so I could see her again, feel her gentle touch against my cheek, hear her soft voice. She always told me to be strong, but how could I be without her. I was cracking on the inside with each day and I feared what will be left of me in the end, because she won't come back to fix me. All the memories with her flashed in front of my eyes, making it hard for me to breath. In the end the pain in my throat became too big to handle and I cried out.
"Just give me a sign, a hint, whatever it will be! Anything!" I shouted the words out to the sky and wiped my tears away, ashamed that I broke down like that.
A strong wind blew against me pushing my hat off my head. I ran quickly to it fearing that another blow from the cold wind will follow. I took it and looked up spotting the sweet's shop, Honeydukes. I remembered how mum used to make chocolate candies and the sweet taste seduced my mind to go at the store and buy something.
The store was famous for its chocolate and many, wonderful and wild sweets. And when you walk inside you have the feeling that there are mountains of them. There were shelves upon shelves of the most succulent-looking sweets imaginable. Creamy chunks of nougat, shimmering pink squares of coconut ice, honey-coloured toffees. Hundreds of different kinds of chocolate in neat rows. There was a large barrel of Every Flavour Beans and another of Fizzing Whizzbees, and many, many more sorts of sweets.
I immediately went to the chocolate section and tried each candy, so I could know from which to buy. There was one in particular which reminded me of my mother's, so I filled a bag with them. Turning around to go and pay I bumped into someone's chest. Looking up, I met the handsome face of Konrad gazing down at me with a soft smile. Alright, I understand from hints. I thought to myself and smiled back.
"Hey."
"Hey.Uhmm... you have chocolate in the corners of your lips." He pointed and my eyes widened as I quickly wiped it away with my fingers.
"Thanks... So, you like sweets?" I wanted to facepalm myself for asking such a stupid question. Of course he did, we are in a store which sells only that.
"Yes, but I am looking for something to send to my sister." He explained and melted my heart.
"Oh, you have a sister?"
"Yeah, she's seven years younger than me." He spoke with a bright smile which warmed me up. "Can you help me?"
"Yes, of course. What kind of sweets does she like?" He explained to me and I looked at my bag.
I picked up a candy from the box in which were the ones that reminded me of my mum's and turned around to put it in his mouth. I blushed lightly when I realized what I did without thinking. My finger tips touched his lips for a brief moment and couldn't help but think how soft they were. He munched the sweet and when he swallowed he smiled down at me.
"You know, I think she will like those." He filled up a present box with them and few other candies and we went to pay.
He offered to walk with me on our way back to Hogwarts and I gladly accepted. We shared a bit about our past and ourselves, but feeling that the topics got serious he decided to light up the mood.
"Wanna tell you why I am afraid of heights?" It was so random that it made me giggle.
"S-Sure."
"You know of the parachute jumping lessons?"
"Yes."
"Well... I only did that once..."
"Haha...why?" The way he quickly said it was cute and funny and I couldn't help but chuckle like a little girl ready to hear the story of her life.
"When both parachutes don't open you tend to not do something like that again." My eyes widened as I gasped.
"What are you talking about? Then how did you get down?"
"I had..." He paused with a chuckle. "I jumped out of the airplane and then my first parachute didn't open, they cut... there are guiders behind your back, so the guy cut the ropes off and we started to fall towards the earth and you know, that's when you start picturing the ten most bright moments in your life..." I chuckled at how he joked about that and allowed him to continue. "And then the second parachute was tangled as well, so all my friends were popping out with their parachutes, you know, and I am still plumping towards planet Earth..." I laughed out loud as I watched him mimicking and gesticulating while describing everything. "And then that was tangled for good, I don't know, twenty- thirty second and then the guide managed to untangle it and then told me "Oh, you'll probably break your legs now, because we are going too fast.". So it was one of the worst experiences in my life and I will never do it again."
"And did you break your legs?" I laughed out picturing the whole situation.
"No, I did not break my legs."
"And how did the guy tell you that? I mean how did he say it?" I wanted to know more details just trying to imagine it perfectly so I could laugh even more. "Was he yelling or?"
"He was screaming."
"Oh..." I was laughing while he just smiled down at my ready to cry from laugher eyes. "Wow...that's just horrible." I chuckled out wiping a tear from my eye with my index finger. "Is that the scariest things that happened in your life?"
"Well no."
"WHAT?" I asked loudly and let out a laugh escape my lips. "Tell me, please!"
"Well..." he chuckled at my curiosity and continued. "I was on a plane to Russia and the engine exploded." My eyes widened, but I remained silent, wanting to hear the rest. "I was looking out the window and the tire engine just turned to a fireball. It was right after the parachute incident, by the way. And I was the only person who seemed to see this that there was a flaming fireball... it was all Russian passengers and I kind of felt like I already died and gone to heaven, because no one said anything..." I brust out laughing, he was so fun to watch and listen while he was describing everything so calmly. "And I was screaming at the top of my lungs "What the hell is going on here?" and people kind of looked back to me and the stewardess came out and said to me "We seem to have a slight problem here.". He faked a female Russian voice and I felt how my stomach began to hurt from all the laughing. "Russian guy finally said "What is zi problem?"." In a Russian accent, making the story even more funny. "And I said, well we lost one of our engines." He closed his eyes and pressed his lips tightly trying not to laugh with me. "And he said... hehehe..." His laugh was so soft and seductive that I could listen to it all day. "And how many engines did we have?" I laughed again at his Russian accent and he waited for me to calm down. "And I explained slowly to him, well we had two and now we have one." He laughed with me for a bit before continuing. "And the man said, that iz not guud, that iz not guud." He explained how he landed and that there were hundred different ambulances there waiting for the passengers to get out of the plane.
I never had such a good laugh in my life before and I couldn't express how grateful I was to Konrad for sharing his stories with me. He escorted me to my common room, before leaving for the ship. As always he bowed and pecked my hand, it was a thing all the guys from Durmstrang did and it impressed the girls.
The rest of the day I spent in reading a book and eating chocolates in the bed with a smile that couldn't leave my lips.
