GIRL MEETS WORLD & THE LONGEST RIDE
#LUKE-COLLINS & LUCAS-FRIAR
FIRST-PERSON POV

Pairings: Lucas x Riley / Luke x Reader

"Hey, can you get that haystack?" I ask my husband Luke.

"Anything for you my lady." I smile while he takes the haystack and shoves it into the horse stable. "I saw Lucas with Riley."

I raise an eyebrow. "And?" Is he really going to talk about our kid hanging too much with a girl? "I like Riley, she reminds me of well-me."

"And, I think there's something going on between them." I roll my eyes and throw horse grains at him. "Hey Y/N! You're wasting Horse's food."

"Tell me again, why did you name the horse, Horse?"

"I don't like labeling things," he says.

"Sometimes, I wonder why I married you." I smile and lean in. Luke leans in too.

"Probably because you can't live without me and that I'm the love of your life? Oh and that we got a beautiful son together?" I laughed shaking my head.

"Oh yeah, now I remember why."

"Hey, dad! Can I speak to you for a moment?" Lucas appears in the door frame. God, he looks so much like his father in this flannel. I can't believe he's my son. "Sure kid, if your mother would let go of my arm."

"Oh sorry! I'll let you boys talk." I kiss Luke once more before heading out. I hug Lucas and walk away. I couldn't help it. I had to eavesdrop.

"I received my letter, dad. I'm doing it. I didn't know I had the skills to get in but I did."

"You got in? I'm so proud of you Lucas. I will support you all the way. I can train with you anytime." Now, I know what they're talking about. Bull riding. What's the fun in that? I will never know.

"Hi, Mrs.Collins." I jump to Riley's voice.

"Hey, Riley. Call me, Y/N. Can I help you?" I ask Lucas's best friend. I swear she would be my twin if I were younger. The same brown medium-length hair, the same big brown eyes. The same shy smile.

"Yes, I was looking for Lucas. He texted to meet him at the ranch. And, I don't see him." I open the stable door.

"In with Luke. Get in, I'll be behind."

Riley and I walk into the stable interrupting the boy's conversation. "Riley, hey."

"Hi." Riley smiles and gazes at Lucas. I'd do the same. She walks over to him and they both hug.

"Lucas is Riley staying for dinner?"

"If she wants," he smiles up at her and she nods, not breaking eye contact. Luke was behind, studying their actions with wide eyes.

"Luke, care to help me out?"

"Huh? For what?" I stare blankly at him until he gets my message. "Oh yeah, for that! Sure. See ya kids."
