My Best Friend's Girlfriend

Hindi alam ni Bea kung matatawa ba siya o maiinis nung nabasa niya yung text ni Thirdy na doon na daw sila magkita sa bahay nila sa Quezon City. She was fully expecting that the dinner that she has been dreading to go to will be at a restaurant but she was informed last minute that there was a change of plans and the dinner will be at the Ravena residence. They will be eating a home-cooked meal.

A home-cooked meal specifically prepared by Jhoana as what Thirdy proudly told her through text message.

That was news to her. Learning that Jhoana knows how to cook. Wala kasi sa itsura niya yung marunong magluto. Still, Bea can't help but feel a new admiration for the girl since she typically likes people who knows what they're doing when it comes to the kitchen. She likes to eat kasi so naturally, she likes people who can cook.

She takes a deep breath. She has another reason to like Jhoana? This is really getting ridiculous.

Naalala na naman niya tuloy yung meeting (she doesn't want to call it a date) nila ni Jhoana kahapon. Nung una, nagdadalawang isip pa siya kung itutuloy ba niyang makipagkita o hindi. She doesn't see the point kasi. Ano bang dapat nila pag-usapan? Isa pa, gusto niya kasi umiwas as much as possible. Alam kasi niya sa sarili niya na may konting bitterness pa rin siya dahil naunahan siya ng best friend niya sa babaeng matagal na niyang hinahanap.

But she really can't deny na meron siyang excitement na naramdaman nung na-recieve niya yung text ni Jhoana. Natigilan siya sa loob ng kotse niya that time while staring at the text message letting her know na si Jhoana yun at gustong makipagkita at makausap siya. She felt her heart beat getting faster at the thought of Jhoana making an effort to contact her. Hindi nga siya nakapag concentrate ng maayos dun sa mga nirereview niya nung makauwi siya sa kakaisip kung bakit bigla na lang gusto makipagkita ni Jhoana sa kanya.

Pinilit naman niya yun alisin sa isip niya. She knows too well that she shouldn't be thinking that way about Thirdy's girlfriend. Ilan beses ba niyang dapat pagsabihan ang sarili niya?

Yesterday while they were talking, Bea can't help herself but stare at Jhoana every once in a while. Sinubukan naman talaga niya na wag tumitig eh. Ang hirap lang kasi di niya namamalayan na nakatingin na pala siya at nakatitig sa mukha ni Jhoana. Sigurado pa siyang napansin ni Jhoana yun dahil ilang beses siyang umiwas ng tingin kay Bea habang magkausap sila. Lahat na lang ng kilos ni Jhoana napapansin niya that time at sobrang naiinis siya sa sarili niya dahil feeling niya lalo siyang na-aattract.

And then she suddenly remembered the kiss that the two of them shared the night they met. Nagulat na lang siya ng bigla na lang niyang binanggit yung about sa pag-iwan na ginawa sa kanya ni Jhoana after nila maghalikan. She was not supposed to open that topic with her. Tutal ang gusto lang naman talaga ni Jhoana eh yung kalimutan nila yung lahat ng nangyari nung gabing yun so they can start over for Thirdy's sake.

She won't deny that she was a little heart broken inside hearing that Jhoana wanted to forget about what happened between them. Hindi na lang niya masyado pinahalata at sinabi na lang niya na wala naman siyang feelings kay Jhoana kaya kalimutan na lang talaga nila lahat.

And then Jhoana suddenly asked her if they could be friends. Bea saw the hopeful look in her eyes when she asked that. Hindi nga lang siya sigurado kung good idea ba na maging friends sila kaya nag-hesitate siya sandali. In the end, pumayag na din siya. Wala naman siguro mawawala sa kanya kung magiging magkaibigan sila diba?

Well, except for her sanity, that is.

Bea forces herself to stop thinking about the possibilities and consequences of her and Jhoana becoming friends as she drives her way to Thirdy's place. Ang tagal na din niyang hindi nakaka dalaw dun. She realizes that it would actually favor her that they will have the dinner at Thirdy's house instead of going out. At least Thirdy's parents and Dani will be there to keep her company and distract her just in case maging masyadong sweet yung dalawa sa harap niya at ma-out of place siya.
