Killian's POV

I was making dinner when Emma walked through the door. She had a wide smile on her face. It was contagious because I found myself smiling too.

"Good day?" I asked her.

"Yes! I caught my perp!" She announced excitedly. She jumped up and down and I put the spatula I was using down and walked over to her. I picked her up and spun her around. A wide smile and a happy giggle escaped her lips. "Put me down!"

I did as I was told. "We should go out and celebrate. I'm off tonight, but I get a discount on drinks."

"Perfect!"

"Dinner is almost done, and then we'll leave. It's not a good idea to drink on an empty stomach."

"I was hoping you'd say that. I'm starving." I laughed and put the food out onto two plates. I handed Emma hers and we went over to the couch to eat. We ate in silence, but both of us wanting to get out of the apartment in a hurry, so we ate fast. She finished first and put her plate in the sink. "I'm going to get ready," she said and disappeared into her room.

I ate the rest of my food and then went into my room. As I was taking off my shirt to change it, my phone started to ring. I grabbed it and saw David on the caller I.D. I slid the answer button over and held the phone up to my ear. "What's up, Dave?"

"Nothing much. I just wanted to know if you found a roommate yet?"

"I did. She's great."

"Wait, she?"

"Oh! Yeah. Her name is Emma."

"You know you can't get involved with your roommate."

"I know that. I don't have feelings for her."

"You sure?"

"Yes! No if you'll excuse me, I have to get ready."

"Alright. I'll call you later then."

"Bye, David," I said in a sing-song voice and hung up. I slipped my shirt on. I had just lied to David. I had never lied to him before. A little bit of guilt built up in my stomach because of that. After I combed and gelled my hair, I left my room, to find Emma already waiting for me on the couch. Her skin tight black dress hugged her curves perfectly. I grabbed my leather jacket and slipped it on. "You ready to go?" I asked her.

"Absolutely." She stood up and the dress was really short. It was strapless too. I knew she'd be getting all sorts of attention tonight.

We walked down to the bar and went in. Tonight wasn't that busy either. It was mostly the weekends that were really packed. "I'll get us some drinks!" I shouted over the music. Emma nodded and went over to a booth. I got us both beers and found her drumming her fingernails on the table. I placed her beer down on the table and sat across from her. I looked around the room and so did she. The music was loud and the bass was pumping so hard, I could feel it in my chest. "Go find a guy. See if you can get him to take you home tonight," I suggested. It made me see red even just thinking about her with another man, but Emma wasn't mine to protect and shelter. She could do whatever she wanted.

"I don't want to. I just want to drink with my friend," she said and looked back at me.

"We're friends?"

"O-only if you want to be."

"Of course, Swan." I grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles.

She blushed and turned her head away from me. I was determined to bond with her more. If that meant meaningless dinners and just hanging out together, then that was fine with me. I just had to keep telling myself that I wasn't going to get involved with her. Suddenly, Emma froze. She looked out at the dance floor, but I couldn't tell who she was looking at. I nudged her foot that was under the table and she looked back at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Graham's here," she said and finally turned to me.

I shrugged. "And that is going to stop you from having a good time, how? Let's dance." I grabbed her hand and pulled her up off the seat.

"I don't want to dance."

"Oh no, Swan. We are going to whether you want to or not." I led her to the dance floor and turned her around so her back was against my chest. I could control myself. It was just to show this bastard what he's missing out on. "Let the music take over," I whispered in her ear.

Slowly, Emma did as she was told. She grinded against me in the most attractive way. It felt like she was teasing me. I managed to keep myself calm, by watching the guy that Emma had shown me. He had sandy brown hair and matching facial hair. His eyes darted across the room as if he was looking for someone, or trying to keep his eyes off of someone. Once his eyes fell onto Emma, he stopped looking around. I smirked and placed my hands on her hips. If Graham thought that their breakup was affecting her, he certainly thought differently now.

After the song had ended. Emma stood up straighter and turned around so she was facing me. Her pupils were blown wide. Her cheeks had taken a red tint to them, and I could see that the dance had taken a toll on her. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom."

"Okay. I'll be in our booth."

I watched as she went to the ladies restroom and I sat down. When I got there, I was surprised to see two more faces there. David and Mary Margaret had arrived sometime during mine and Emma's dance. I sat down next to David and grabbed my beer.

"Is that Emma?" David asked when I sat down.

I grabbed my beer and took a drink of it. "Aye."

"You looked like a couple."

I rolled my eyes. "She just got out of a long term relationship, Dave! I'm not making any moves on her."

A second later, Emma came back and sat down next to Mary Margaret. She eyed the two suspiciously. "I don't think we've met," she began.

"Oh! Right! I'm Mary Margaret and that is my boyfriend David," Mary explained. They both shook Emma's hand and she looked back at me.

"Are you alright?" I asked. My voice filled with concern.

"Never better," she smiled and took another sip of her beer.
