Emma's POV

The next day, Killian and I took Ally shopping. We bought her a whole new wardrobe of clothes that were new and that actually fit her. I swear, I have never seen anyone smile so much. Killian and I wanted her to feel welcome with us, and we wanted her to see us as her parents. After we went shopping, we took her out for lunch, then we went home. I dropped Killian and Ally off at home, then went grocery shopping.

Killian's POV

Ally was upstairs in her room while I went through paperwork from the bar. I ordered more liquor and shot glasses that just seemed to go missing every hour. As I was looking over the numbers from last night, my cell phone began ringing. It was August. I had promoted him to assistant manager, he was my friend, after all.

"Killian! There is a major fight down here! Me and Sam can't break it up! You need to get down here. Now," August yelled into the phone, panic lacing every word.

"Alright, I'll be there as soon as I can." I hung up and ran to the foyer where my keys and jacket were. I put my jacket on and ran upstairs and knocked on Ally's bedroom door. She opened the door and looked up at me with curiosity. "A fight broke out at the bar, and I have to go. Will you be okay here by yourself for a little while? Emma should be back soon."

She nodded, "yeah. Don't worry about me. I can take care of myself."

'Now where have I heard that before?' "Remember, don't open that door for anyone. Emma has a key, so you won't have to worry about that. Be safe," I kissed the top of her head and ran downstairs and to my car.

Emma's POV

I arrived home about an hour later. I was carrying a bunch of grocery bags on my arms. I didn't see Killian's car in the driveway, and that made me nervous. He wouldn't just leave, would he? I unlocked the door and put the bags down on the counter. It was strange that even after all this time, I was still doubting if he even wanted to be with me. I knew it was ridiculous, but after being abandoned my whole life, a part of me just told me that Killian would be the same way as everyone else. But I always ended up feeling guilty. He would never leave me. We had gotten married, bought a house, and even adopted a beautiful daughter together.

"Ally?" I called. What if Killian had taken Ally too and just left?

I heard footsteps coming down the stairs, and a moment later, Ally rounded the corner. "Yeah?"

I let out an audible sigh of relief. "Good. I thought you were gone. Do you know where Killian went?"

"He said that there was a fight at the bar, but that he would be back soon."

"Okay. I thought he had taken you and run off."

"Would you like help putting the groceries away?"

"You don't have to."

Ally shrugged, "it's okay. I don't want to be a burden by just sitting around."

"Hey." I put a hand on her shoulder. "You will never be a burden.'

She slightly nodded before doing something that I hadn't suspected. She hugged me. I wasted no time to hug her back. Her head laid on my chest and she let out a soft sob. I brushed her hair down and kissed the top of her head. The front door opened and seconds later, Killian came into the kitchen. It was as if Ally hadn't heard him come in because she didn't pull away from me. I motioned Killian over and he hugged Ally from the opposite side, making it a big group hug.

"Sorry," she apologized and sniffed, but didn't move. "No one has ever said that to me before."

Killian tightened his grip on both of us. "You better get used to it, lass."

I looked up at him and smiled. Tears pooled in my eyes. He reached up and wiped them away. It suddenly felt like I was punched in the stomach, and everything that I had eaten was rising up. I abruptly pulled out of our hug and ran to the bathroom, slamming the door behind me. I then threw up everything that I ate.

Killian's POV

"What's wrong?" Ally asked. "What did I do?"

I kneeled down so I was the same height as her. I pushed a strand of hair from her eyes and put it behind her ear. I looked deep into her blue eyes. Anyone that looked at her could assume that she was mine and Emma's biological daughter. She looked so much like us both. "She's just got some stomach bug.  You didn't do anything." She nodded and sniffed. I stood up and knocked on the door. "Swan? You okay?"

I heard the toilet flush and a minute or so later, she came out looking green, but also pale. "I'm fine. I'm going to lie down for a little while."

"Good. Sweet dreams, love." I kissed her head and she went upstairs. I turned to Ally and smiled. "Chocolate chip cookies are her favorite. Now, I've never made them from scratch, but I have a feeling that I have a chef here that can help me out."

"Making cookies? I-I've never done that before."

"I'm sure it can't be too hard." I went over to the cupboard and grabbed the flour and sugar. "See if Emma bought some eggs, will you, love?"

Ally nodded and began to rummage through the bags. She then placed a carton of eggs on the counter next to the flour and sugar. "I'll find the butter."

I looked around the cupboards, seeing if we had any chocolate chips, but when I couldn't find any, I slowly turned around. "Do you think we need chocolate chips?"

Ally laughed, "to make chocolate chip cookies, yes."

"Then we better run out to get some, but we have to put the groceries away first."

It took Ally and me ten minutes or so to put everything away. We then went to my car and I drove to the store. We ran in to get some chocolate chips and rushed back home.

Making cookies was a total disaster, but, it was a lot of fun. I was surprised Emma hadn't woken up because of our laughter. Flour had gotten everywhere. I felt like Ally and I were bonding now, and that made me really happy. Hopefully soon, she would call me and Emma Mom and Dad, and that thought alone brought a huge smile to my face.
