"Nicki, you don't want to talk to him right now. He's high, there's no telling what he's going to say or do." I said to her slowly. I reached down and took her shaking fists into my hands and walked her into her room while Wayne ended the party and thanked everyone for coming.

"What did he want?" Nicki asked bitterly.

"I don't know. But I'm sure it was something dumb. Why don't we just lie down, okay?" She didn't say anything, just stared straight ahead. I knew she didn't feel like speaking. This whole thing was about to set her back. I hadn't seen her this wrecked over him since she found out he had abandoned her. If Chris knew what was good for him, he'd stay away from her before I got to him. However, I still couldn't help but think about the question Nicki had breached earlier. What did Chris want?

"Do you want me to stay, Onika?" I asked softly. I didn't want to bother her, but I had to know. I had to go pickup Mel from the airport in the morning and would have to make a few changes to accommodate the situation if it turned out I was going to spend the night.

She didn't say anything, just looked at me. I knew the answer was yes.

I took off my fur coat, top, pants, heels, and jewelry and climbed into bed with her. I had no pajamas, but I was willing to stay to make her feel better. We lie in the dark and I couldn't help but stare up at the ceiling and think of the future that was to come. Out of no where, I felt Nicki climb on top of me. She laid down on me and squeezed me tight like she was afraid I would leave. We stayed in this position for what felt like forever, and then I drifted off to sleep.

"Hello, Robyn!" Rahim greeted me. Every time I saw this nigga, I swore he always happened to be in a good mood.

"Hey, Rahim." He hugged me.

"Where's Mel?" I asked him.

"She had to use the rest room. She could not even hold it. You know now dat her bladder is dis big," he demonstrated by pinching two of his fingers together and leaving barely any space between them.

"Well she better hurry dat ass up because my patience is this big," I did the same with my fingers.

He laughed. "Oh, here is my queen now!" He pointed. I was sat in the back seat of my driver's SUV, parked in the loading zone at the airport. Rahim put all of their luggage into the car, even though he didn't have to, since security offered, but being the gentleman that he was, he refused the offer and put everything in by himself. Mel had snuck off to use the rest room, which seemed like she was doing every five minutes, but had returned quickly.

Mel sat in the back next to me, while Rahim sat on the far left.

"Excited?" She smiled at me.

"Of course." I felt a grin poke at the corners of my lips.

I watched as the nurse slathered the clear jelly onto Mel's protruding belly.

"So, you are 15 weeks pregnant?" The doctor asked while typing on the computer.

"That is correct." Rahim said.

Mel was lying on her back on the chair she sat in. Her shirt was lifted up so that the nurse could spread the ultrasound gel on her belly accordingly. Rahim sat in a rolling chair next to her, holding her hand and looking into her eyes.

They were in love.

I was happy for Mel, glad that she had found a man that truly loved her and cared for her. As a kid, she always spoke of a tall dark prince who would give her a child. I guess she had finally gotten her wish.

We were here for Mel's check up and to find out the sex of the baby. The latter was long awaited, and I admit, I was pretty excited to know.

The doctor put on some gloves after the nurse told her Mel was ready to go. She readjusted her glasses, stood up, and nodded at me with a smile. "I take it you're the aunty?" She asked.

"Yes. Yes I am." It felt good to say.

She put the transducer on Mel's belly, the object that would help us see the baby. She guided our eyes to the sonogram on the computer so that we could see the baby live.

"Okay, I'm trying to get a good view of the genitals," the doctor said, focusing on the screen. She slid the transducer down a little lower.

"Ooh! There it is!" She exclaimed. She got up at pointed at the baby's lower half.

"Its a boy!" Mel screamed. Rahim giggled and I grabbed Mel's other free hand.

"Just like I knew it would be." Rahim said.

"Any name ideas?" The doctor asked.

"Robert Rahim Joseph." Mel announced.

I looked at her. "Robert?"

"It would have been Robyn if he were a girl, so we decided Robert was the next best thing." Rahim piped up.

"Wow. I love you Mel." I pulled her into a hug.

"So, wassup wit' you and Nic?" Mel asked. We were at my house, in the outdoor Jacuzzi. If it were the old days and Mel wasn't pregnant, we'd be passing forth a lit blunt between the two of us; but instead, I was sipping on a glass of Remy Martin cognac and Mel was eating candy.

I rolled my eyes. "You ask me this at least fifteen times a day, Mel. There's nothing between us. She's like my other half."

"You sure? I'm just sayin' Rob. It seems like you got something going on." She shrugged.

"How?" I was curious.

"I mean the way yall look at each other. All the time you spend together. You've been friends since rehab. That's a good three months. Plus I know you know what that ass looks like. Its impossible to not be attracted to her. I've seen you act toward her the way you act towards nobody else. Soft, sweet, gentle, kind. The Robyn I know is a rough asshole. With her, you treat her like she's the finest china and she'll shatter into a million pieces if you drop her. You're always goin' out of your way to do something for her. You're always smiling and laughing with her, holding hands. That typa shit." She said like it was obvious.

"Damn. Do I really do all of that?"

"Yes! Its wild, Robyn. She changes on you. Are you sure you don't like her?"

What she said started to dawn on me.
