Chapter 12 Worried

The next three weeks were incredible, the plays were awesome. I hadn't seen anything like the plays in all the years of my life. "That was incredible," I said as we came out of the last play, Cats.

Jasper chuckled as he draped his jacket over my shoulders, "You said that about the last two plays, but I am glad you liked it."

"I loved it, thank you," I said kissing his cheek. That night he had to go hunting so he took me to the hotel and then left. I took a hot bath and re-watched the play in my mind. As I soaked in the hot water I sang songs from the Phantom but kept my voice down as it was after midnight. I then went to bed knowing Jasper would be late.

We would be going home in a few days and he didn't want to be thirsty on the plane. Tomorrow we would be exploring New York; I wanted to get something for everyone. Alice would kill me if I didn't go shopping while in New York. In the morning Jasper still wasn't back, thankfully today was cloudy. I got dressed and went down to breakfast leaving a note in the room in case he didn't see me in the lobby. I had a waffle and some fruit with my orange juice. When I was done with breakfast I went back to my room hoping to find Jasper there. He hadn't joined me and I was getting worried.

I went into the room, "Jasper!" I called locking the door behind me. "If you're here please tell me, I'm already worried enough." No answer. "Jasper, this isn't funny," I tried again. When I got no answer I let my other senses take over to see if I could pick up on his presence. He wasn't here. I called Carlisle. I didn't know what to do.

"Asha, what's wrong?" Carlisle asked.

"Jasper hasn't come back from hunting last night and the sun is starting to show. I have no idea where he went hunting. I'm really worried."

"Have you tried calling him?" dad asked.

"No, I didn't think of that. I just didn't know what to do," I said still upset pacing around the room.

"It's fine Asha, Edward is calling him now." I waited to hear if he got through. "It went to voice mail after the first ring."

"I'll try calling him, if I can't get through I'm going to go looking for him," I told my dad.

"Be careful Asha and Jasper can take care of himself."

"That doesn't mean I don't worry and thank you," I said hanging up. I called Jasper and left him a voice mail when I got no answer. I changed into a pair of jeans and a flannel, pulling on my tennis shoes. I grabbed one of Jasper's jackets so that I could have his scent to track. I walked into the street and started tracking, letting the predator side of me take over. I had walked halfway across Brooklyn when I came across Jasper's scent and it was fresh.

What the hell was he doing in Brooklyn? "Jasper?" I said in a normal voice knowing he would be able to hear me even if he was a mile away. "I'm worried, where have you been?" I asked. I hoped he could hear me. When I got no answer I moved on trailing his scent. I made it to Staten Island before I found him on a ferry. "Where the hell have you been?" I asked walking up to him.

"I didn't think you would be this worried," Jasper said.

"It's after one in the afternoon and you haven't even called or texted. You're not just my brother Jasper. You're my best friend and my mate. Don't scare me like that ever again. If you do I'll beat you senseless," I threatened.

"I'm sorry Ash," he said pulling me to him. I returned the hug and we returned to the hotel. Our plane left tomorrow and I was exhausted from walking as far as I did today.
