Brian pushed the door to the cab open, grabbed his bag and jumped out before it even stopped. He threw a hundred dollar bill in the front seat and slammed the door. He turned to find a group of paparazzi standing at the entrance.

"Is it true, Brian? Are the babies coming today?"

"Do you have names for them?"

"Is their mother ok?"

He ignored them, pushed through the doors to the hospital and found Bessy waiting for him.

"How is she?" He asked as they rushed toward the elevators.

"She's sleeping. It looks like placenta abruption." Bessy answered, pushing the button for the fourth floor as the got on the elevator.

"What the hell does that mean?" Brian asked.

"The placenta is detaching from the uterus wall. It's common in pregnancies of multiples. They want to do a cesarean. Today." Bessy searched Brian's face to see where his emotional state was.

"Why haven't they done it already?" He asked.

"Jackie asked if they could wait for you. The doctor said as long as the babies didn't show signs of stress, they would wait for you. So far, the babies are fine. But they are going to want to do it soon." Bessy took the bag that Brian was holding and pointed down the hall. "Room 408."

"Thanks, Bessy." Brian walked to the room and stopped outside the door.

He took a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open.

Jackie laid on her side, her eyes closed and her breathing soft. He walked to her and pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear.

Her eyes, still heavy with sleep, slid open.

"Hey, baby." Brian whispered.

She smiled.

"I waited for you." She rubbed her hand over her stomach.

"I'm so sorry." He placed his hand over hers on her stomach. "What are they saying?"

"This is common in twin pregnancies. They want to do the c-section today. They've been monitoring the babies and they are fine." She squeezed his hand. "We're all going to be fine. Are you ready to meet your babies? To be a daddy?"

"You have no idea." Brian bent down and kissed her lips.

"Mr. Quinn, glad you made it." The doctor walked around to the other side of the bed. "We have an OR clear. We're ready to do this when you are."

Jackie looked from the doctor to Brian. He nodded.

"We're ready." She confirmed.

"Great. We'll get you back and get you prepped. Your husband can join you a few minutes later." The doctor left the room as quickly as he had come.

Jackie's eyes met Brian's.

"Soon enough." He smiled, knowing that hearing the doctor call him her husband was emotionally hard. He needed to assure her that the option wasn't completely off the table.

"Okay." Her voice cracked. "Let's meet our baby boys."

A nurse came in to take Jackie to the operating room.

Brian took her hand between both of his.

"I love you. I can't wait to have our babies in our arms." He felt tears collecting in his eyes. "I'll see you soon."

As the nurse wheeled her out, Bessy walked in to the room.

"Ready to be daddy?" She asked.

"I'm so scared, Bessy." He admitted.
